Mrod .25 Crosman manufactured barrel accuracy w/ JSB King and King heavies

Mine is the Stoeger Bullshark version. It's a .177 slug shooting thumper. I really haven't had to do anything to it but clean, lube and adjust the trigger. I'm not sure if Stoeger does any extra finishing on them or not, but it was pretty nice out of the box.

I had an opportunity to put some pellets on paper.  These are all 5 shot groups at 75 yards.  25.39 gr.  HST dialed down to 870-890fps.  Reg is set at 105bar.  Max HST at this reg setting is around 960fps.



Afterwards I dialed up the HST a bit to help reduce ES

This target is 5 shot groups at 75 yards using JSB kings at 930fps. 



A few comments.... 

She is proving to be fairly accurate, albeit very hold sensitive.

I wish I would have had some larger 10mm ID CF tubing in stock, all I had was 14 x 10 so that is what I used.   Plus I was worried about my ability to open up the barrel bands so even if I had larger CF in stock it is likely I would have still used the 14mm......  I ordered some 15.7x14mm and plan to add this to help stiffen things up.  Hopefully stiffening up the barrel will help. 

No matter what LDC I used, none of them were remotely close to as quiet as my OEM shroud (with haircurler type baffles) and Tanto combination.  At some point will figure out how to reintroduce the shroud. 

The last thing I did before closing down for the night is turn the reg down to 95bar, which maxes at 935fps with 25gr.  I am hopeful a lower pressure 890-900fps 25gr tune will help with the old sensitivity while waiting on the larger CF tubing to arrive.

Well I believe this thread has come full circle, the Mrod barrel has returned to the P15.  Later I may do more testing with the 600mm STX Superior barrel, but for now it really didn't fit well with my primary use of this gun. 

At least that little detour allowed me to max my porting and clean up a few other odds and ends from when I originally transplanted the Mrod barrel a couple of years ago.

Current tune is reg at 95bar, JSB kings running 860fps.  it is very pleasant to shoot and gets a bunch of shots at this power level.

If and when I do any further testing with the long barrel I'll start another thread. 


My short answer for the original question is the Crosman manufactured .25 Mrod barrel is capable of greater accuracy than this particular shooter can consistently produce, lol.  Bullpups are very twitchy when shooting 100 yards from a standing with bipod on the truck bed cover shooting position.
