The tapered side of the AT44 valve seat faces the threaded side of the valve?

Hi. Reassembling an AT44 valve and I keep getting leaks. I've tried new tappets (the little white plastic ring with an oring around it) but still leaks. That valve tappet is tapered (countersunk) around its hole on one side. That tapered side faces the wider/threaded part of the valve right? I would think it does cause the section of the valve stem that rests in the tappet is tapered. Just checking.

I'm not too sure about that. I can't remember exactly but it seems like the last time I had one apart something was kinda counterintuitive. It wouldn't hurt to flip it over and see. I've been known to chuck the end of the valve stem in a Dremel and spin it against the seat as well.
Good luck.

If it’s the oem delrin seal I don’t think it’s makes much difference. It will create another taper.
Are u sure its leaking at that point?

replaced the tappet with a new one and that seems to have fixed it (though I thought I tried that before), will monitor for leaks. Thanks for the responses.

you need to lube the O-ring on the Tappet with Silicone grease or silicone oil and make sure you press it all the way in it's seat, the Poppet valve goes in with the O-ring end facing the gun.
