oh well that does change things i believe, hey how bout 2 rws shutzes in a few years....

I don't know about all that, I'll retire my Hammerli Storm & Gamo Whisper over to them & get myself a nice new Air Rifle !

These are rated at 495fps...so will it be ok to shoot the light alloy & PBA pellets out of the Explorer's ? Maybe give'em a few more FPS ? Whats your thoughts ?

To answer your question, yes, gamo pbas, raptors, stuff like that are safe to shoot in a Ruger Explorer. They will also provide the most FPE.

think of it this way, we dont shoot raptors in an rws350, or the 34, and most people dont shoot them in even the rws shutze, they say it will damage the gun, so why would you shoot them in an explorer?

Yeah...I guess so ! The only reason I ask is Ive got a tin of the Crosman Alloy pellets that were give to me & I won't shoot them thru my Hammerli or Whisper but I didn't know if it would hurt the yout models since their springs were weaker. The pellets weighed on the scales at 3.4g ea. !

The reason you don't want to use raptors in a 1000 fps springer is because you risk damaging your piston seal. In a youth rifle, there is absolutely no problem in using them because the spring is much easier on the pellets.

No I don't use'em in my "Adult Springers" just hated to see them go to waste...thought since the spring the youth modles was less powerful then it might be ok to use them in the Explorers.

The Explorers are actually a nice little air rifle, the trigger pull is a little long but it will be fine for my boys to learn with. While they were at school I took the guns out back & set up at 10yds & set the factory "iron sights" . using a rest I can clover leaf the pellets, sometimes putting 2 pellets in the same ragged hole ! I think these will be good guns for my boys to learn with ! If the Air Hawk shoots this good then I might just have to get myself one of these !

my blackhawk puts em through the same hole past 50, granted i shoot alot, so its a hole about .5-.75 inches, but thats with about 50+ shots at the target.
