Can’t degas

I was trying to adjust the regulator on my Caiman X to bring it down to 20fpe. Got it degassed & apart. Turned the reg adjuster 3/4 of a turn. Put it back together. Aired it up to 125bar, the reg is closed. No air getting to the plenum, so now I have no idea how to degas it so I can adjust the reg again. Any ideas??

The reg only goes in one way. I just adjusted it too low & it’s closed off, where it’s not letting any air into the plenum. I can push the valve stem down with my fingers. And I’m not completely sure how the gauge is installed. I looked at it last night but it looks like it maybe pinned. There’s not flat spots for a gauge socket to try & unscrew it.

Usually this works.
Put more air in slowly until the fill valve clicks open, then just barely open the bleed valve.  The reservoir air will slowly leak out the bleed valve.

Not familiar with that gun, but I'm guessing there is at least 1 bleed screen between the air tube and the regulator. Might be a brass screw, might be a steel screw with a ball bearing under it.

Alternate can you unscrew the fill fitting slightly to cause a leak? or unscrew the air tube/bottle a little to cause a leak?

This works with many fill check valves.  You will need to bleed very slowly, or it will close again.  Just pump it back up until it clicks again.   It will probably take a few iterations to get to zero.

If it uses a spring return check valve, then this method probably won't work.

I just tried this. And no worky!! I emailed Airmaks about how to get the gauge out but I’ve emailed them before & never got any response. I not few I’ll get very hopefully that I want break something.

This is a screen shot of the gauge/fill manifold of the rifle. I circled the part that appears to be a pin that holds the holds the gauge in place.

I’ve talked to Brain at Veradium air & have him the run down. He’s gonna look into for me & I’ll call him in the morning.

I just tried this. And no worky!!

Try it with the gun in a different orientation.  Most check valves don't have a spring in them to close them, but gravity will have an impact.  I know that with Marauder's this procedure will work great if the muzzle is pointed up, is more sensitive to flow rates with the gun on its side, and won't work at all if the muzzle is pointed down.

Of course if your gun has a spring in the check valve it won't work . . . .

If what you have circled were a "pin", how would you ever get it out? It can't be pressed thru, or it would leak. How would you "pull" it out? My guess is that's a hole that allows air to get to get to the gauge so that it can read the pressure, or  that is how air gets into tube from fill.

Sorry got busy. But yeah I got degassed. I ended up cutting the pressure tube for the pressure gauge. After it was empty with minimal effort the gauge unscrewed by hand. So now I’m in the market for a good gauge. Had a cheap gauge laying around installed it & got it shooting again but not the way I wanted.

It was shooting 32fpe with 17.5gr NSA slugs.  It I don’t really need that my juice. I wanted around 20fpe. Played with the reg but couldn’t get a consistent shot to shot string. So I went the other way it. Now it’s at 45fpe. I haven’t finished tuning in it yet but a 20 shot string yielded a 9 fps spread. So I’ll see if o can squeeze some more out it & tune another gun for my 20fpe gun.
