A Question About Pumper Life & 8-10 Pumps With C362 ?

Is the trigger in this better than the one on a 1377 or 2240 ?

I have asked this q on another thred but no replies there.

No warranty for me, I barely had a hundo of pellets thru it before taking it apart and putting lube in the trigger pack (SHAME on you Crosman for not lubing anything in the trigger pack!!)

Seriously, completely dry, just a touch on the bolt sear but all the linkage was dry. 

I took her to 10 pumps and got a clean 700 FPS with a 14.3 gr CPHP, that is pretty nice but I'll use 8 pumps for the 675 fps as it seems it plateaus at 8 pumps anyway.

My last 1377 was purchased in 1990 so It's not a fair comparison for me but I did find my 362 to have less slack and a crisper let off, the 1377 was/is spongy and hard to guess when it would break.

The good news is that even though I got some very rough parts in my trigger group, a little work on the contact points, a tiny dab of molly and a simple spring change gave me a sub #2 trigger and a nice crisp break. It's no Geissele by any means but it' serviceable.

Maybe I got a Monday trigger group on my C362 but it was horrible at least by my standards. Followed Bill on his trgger mod and put the Baker brass trigger in with a spring mod as the Baker spring and screws won't work. It's a dream now compared to stock. See the thread this is my C362.

I've got a small hone stone I found digging for metal with my metal detector and sure have made a lot of use of it for a long time now on especially any steel that needs good polishing, it does wonders on trigger mechanism's.

Exactly what I used Wayne. I have them in 4 graduated grits from my tool and die days.
A knife sharpening stone is also useful to get that mirror finish.

As for it being my trigger mod... not so much, I think Van was the first one to bring the oversized spring to light.
I eluded to his mention of it in the fist couple posts in my thread.

Going to pump my C362 to 7 pumps max, but will using 8 pumps hurt it ? The brochure says 8 pumps max, but is that true, will 10 pumps smash a seal or ? As I stated before I'll be using 25-29gr ammo

For me 7 pumps is what I want as my max and 5 pumps as a standard with lighter pells for fun.

What are your thoughts on hurting the gun with 8-10 pumps ?

  This gun I built from a 2200 tube with 2200 pump linkage and Mountain Air flat top 1377 valve with extended pump rod has been pumping up to 12 pumps for years when hunting with no problem.  Does the 362 have weaker pump linkage?  The tube is shorter than a 362 by a few inches but still gets 670fps on 8 pumps, 705fps on 10 pumps and 725 on 12 easy pumps with 14.3g pellets with this setup.  Just added a Melon Airgun flow through bolt that added about 15fps to the 12 pumps shot over the usual Disco bolt.  I thought the flow through style might get less FPS but it got more on every gun I changed out.  I would think 10-12 pimps should be fine on occasion if kept lubed. I use Mac1 Secret Sauce on the rivet and my solid pivot pin in front. The 362 should be just as strong as a 2200 pump linkage unless the extra length of the arm is a problem or not supported by a hollow synthetic stock.

   Sounds like the Mountain Air Flattop set up with the longer threaded rod extension would make some serious power at fewer pumps then with the extra swept volume of the 362.  Going to have to try that just add a longer threaded rod if necessary to take up head space.
