The Diana 350 shoots GREAT -much better than my average

Those 4 shots -The 3 almost touching and the one about 2cm higher were just shot-5 minutes ago
Shot at 10 meters in my Bedroom-hallway-bedroom "range" (my feet are behind 10 meters-rifle muzzle must be 2 feet less)
I shot standing freehand LH with the stock sights- doing my version of Artillery hold-meaning just more or less supporting it a bit
This is not great shooting by forum standards-
But those 4 shots are my best ever-I have never shot that well standing freehand with open sights-never-even the one that is 2cm off-is pretty decent shooting by my standards
My eyes are crummy usually-never have a clear sight picture-
but for some reason the sight picture was clear-and that front sight is pretty good
Yeah this is a GREAT GUN.It took me maybe 100 shots to get the sights right-and the dieseling seems to have mostly stopped-but I can still smell it
Yeah those Diana's with the T06 trigger for some reason I shoot better with THAT trigger than with the "better feeling" Record on the HW77K and more or less Record on the TX200
Yeah $290.90 well spent-
It was with the Daisy 5.2 flat nosed lead free pellets-guessing they are 1100 plus maybe 1200 fps-I will chronograph them soon
Thanks
Charlie
PS Yes I know diabetics have vision like I describe-on and off- but I am not diabetic-suspect it has something to do with BP meds or other meds
PPS Occurs to me that the extremely high velocity-maybe 1250 fps-might mitigate my wobble/drift-out of the barrel so fast it matters less
PPPS I was not shooting like this earlier today-I just got home from donating blood-picked up rifle-and shot-earlier today I was all over the place-my usual shooting-the sight picture was
just clear for I DON'T KNOW WHY -the front sight is nice but it did me no good earlier today

Glad you are liking it, Charles!
You do need to remember: WE change every day, and that is, probably, the best reason to keep more than one airgun at hand.
Sometimes you will shoot better at low power, sometimes at high; sometimes you will do better with a scope, sometimes with irons . . .
What is important is that you do not stress the reality that we are NOT made of stone.
We are HUMAN, and humans change, evolve, devolve, change and then change again.
Acceptance is important when we are dealing with our limitations.
Once we have found a way to true acceptance, we can start on working our way to a better and more stable "self".
This is true in shooting, and it is also true in life.
Keep well, my friend; and shoot straight (with at least one gun per day)!

Too true Hector-
When I was a kid-I wanted to be a good shot and be good great at sports-but I wasn't. Small town-rural S Louisiana many folks shot guns-many hunted-I shot-but don't hunt(just as well-not great shot)
Same story all sports requiring hand eye co-ordination or height weight speed- 5'5" 140 then- not fast-not big so forget most sports.
Anyway you are right-you have to learn to accept your limitations-deal with them-maybe you find something you are good at-maybe not
accept it-snd attempt to improve your way around whatever your limitations are-
I suspect the GLOBE front sight on the 350 acts like a pinhole lense-the sight picture is waaay clearer than on other sights-
Yeah I never shot that well with any other open sighted rifle-never-
3 of 4 almost touching at 10 meters-standing open sights no rest-never did that before
The Diana 350 gets a bad rap-I love it-powerful too-
Shooting into pine-the .177 350 with 5.2 grain penetrated crushes the same volume of pine(19 mm penetration) as the 460 .22 with a 9.5 grain pellet 13mm penetration- same
crush volume-no surprise
Now it does make a HUGE report-still pretty loud still 150 shots in-still smell the "dieseling odor" but less.
I love those Diana's -I prefer the slightly cruder T06 trigger-it has more second stage "feel" than the Record and Record clones
I don't bench rest-only shoot standing freehand-no rest-so super light second stage does not agree with me.
Thanks

Just curious why you shoot some of the lightest pellets possible in both your magnums? 5.2 in .177 and 9 grain .22. ? Is there a reasoning behind that? Just trying to understand if theres a thought process that I'm missing out on.
Thanks!

The 350 isn't a lightweight, but that weight can sure translate into steadiness. As my avatar can attest, some of my best offhand shots are done with the 350 lol.

Bob-Denby
Sorry I was unclear-
I only shoot indoors-my bedroom-thru hallway-to bedroom "range"- 10 meters-but with 1322 and 1377 I shoot at 20-25 foot mark
I am 70 years old-certainly had LOTS of lead exposure-tetraethyl lead in gas until about 1975(born 1951) shooting firearms-primers are lead compound-lead "styphnate" spelled
wrong probably(I reloaded and shot indoors for years-splattering lead on backstops-probably some lead paint dust too.
Anyway lead is toxic-very toxic-the neurological damage it does is not reversible and it is hard to "measure"-old person having memory problems or perhaps a tremor
or behavior change(irritable etc) how do know the why of it-now the anemia-low red cell and hemoglobin-a bit easier to measure and somewhat reversible.
Kidney and liver damage too-
I have lead free 9mm 40 and 45 rounds I use when I occasionally-no more than once a year-shoot at ranges.Clean my range clothes scrub shoes-shower well-blow nose.
I don't preach about it-but I avoid it-and have for last 15 years-and since I started air guns again-2015
Not lead pellets are LIGHT- heaviest ones are "penetrators" plastic sabot like rear with a pointed metal front- .177 they are 8.5 grains or so-expensive-about $15 per 100
They can be reused-some-but they do penetrate-plenty
Regular metal lead free pellets are maybe 60% or less-of lead weight 5 or 6 grains in .177 8.6 9.5 in .22
Daisy .177 flat nose are 5.2 grains-LIGHT!
But Crosman .177 SSP are 4.2 grains-no longer made-probably claimed 5 grains but are super light-
Crosman .22 SSP claimed 9.5 actually 8.6 grains-LIGHT- H &N lead free GREEN pellets claimed 9.5 grain are actually 9.5 grains
So because I don't use lead I am stuck with very light pellets
Now I am going to try to double up the pellets-I have already stacked 2 5.2-they shoot surprisingly accurately(I am not great shot-low standards-one of them usually hits
5-10mm POA- the other 7mm or so away
I might be able to solder lead free pellets together-double the weight
I am not one bit concerned about early spring breakage- springs are cheap who cares
I am a little concerned about "denting" where the seal/piston touch/crash down
Soon I will check the 460-pull it apart- 3000-4000 shots-see what damage it has-will report on it
But that is it-I don't use lead-so stuck with light pellets
Oh-why have powerful guns if I only use light pellets-
Simple-I like powerful guns- especially these two Dianas 460 350 and they both shoot great for me-especially the 350-with the light pellets-I actually perfer the T06
to the RECORD and Record clone HW77K TX200 short barrel-
I have bad eyes-70 yo-but was born without depth perception-so I was never a good shot
but I shoot great with the 350-I suspect it is the GLOBE sight-which probably "fixes" my eye problems-
I only shoot standing freehand-open sights-except TX200 has scope-I prefer open sights-and never bench rest(except maybe to diagnose problem-or sight in)
I suspect the high velocity-probably 1200 fps plus 350 .177 actually improves my shooting by making my wobble less important-less time in barrel to wobble off POA-
Oh well-sorry to run on-but it is the LEAD-a no easy way around the lead dust spit out of barrel-except shoot outdoors and wash hands-should be ok-but I can't shoot in my backyard
not with these rifles that look like RIFLES!
Charlie
PS I don't mind the advice or mild criticism I get from using very light pellets in the somewhat pricey rifles
I get that it might seem to be casually abusing the guns-but my guess is the spring breakage and perhaps early death of the piston seal is about it
Pure guess but I don't expect to find ANY dented metal in the front of the compression chamber-wishful thinking maybe-but these rifles are designed to take a hammering
right at the front of the compression chamber- and the seals are 6mm thick (I thick) I will check the 460 soon and let you guys know(or I will lie through my teeth and say "good as
new")

In respect to accuracy with the Diana 350 in .177 with EXTREMELY LIGHT 5.2 GRAINS PELLETS--after owning it 2 days-maybe 200 shots
I shoot is more accurately than any rifle I have every owned-this is first 2 shots-I fatigue quickly-my 1-2nd shot always are my best
Diana 350 .177 -At 10 meters-standing freehand stock globe sight-my first 2 shots will be within 5-7mm or POA and about 3mm apart-yeah both bullseyes
-with HW77K .22 8.6 GRAINS lead free would be 25mm POA and 20mm apart-open sights-but crummy cheek weld-comb waaaay too high-yeah 1 inch from center of bullseye
TX200 .177 same 5.2 grain Daisy flat nose SCOPED NIKON 3X9 40MM 25MM TUBE-good scope Bullseye mount- 5-10mm POA- 5-10 MM APART-maybe 1/2 from center bullseye
The 10.5 lbs weight-makes it trickier to shoot well
I suspect the GLOBE sight is the why I am suddenly a MUCH better shot-never had one-or used one-before
I also suspect the very high velocity-maybe 1200 fps or more-HELPS me by making my wobble less important-only in barrel 2/3rds as long( 1200 vs 800 fps)-
but that might be wrong
Time to pellet release-usually said to be 8/1000-might be nearly same for more powerful rifles-
so the last 2/1000 sec-when pellet actually moving in barrel-might be the only "time that is decreased by the 1200 fps vs 800 fps"
anyway the Diana 350 is GREAT for me
My guess is the GLOBE sight is "fixing" my bad eyes problem-like a pinhole in paper acting like glasses-something like that
Diana 350 is GREAT for me

THAT is what matters!
Whatever works for you is the best.
Now, if you STUDY a bit more WHAT is the driving factor, perhaps you can do something similar with the OTHER rifles you have.
;-)
Keep well and shoot straight!
