AF Talon vs. Condor

I like to shoot off hand 99% of the time. Since satisfying the PCP bug and getting a Mrod and Prod, and I'm having a blast. The biggest niggle so far though is that, at 10lbs scoped w/ Teryx stock, the Mrod is a total brick when it comes to target shooting for more than 15 minutes. I love its power and range over the Prod, but this is becoming a major disappointment in this area, that I'm looking into lightening the load by moving to something else in the 7lb range.
 My nannyware at work will not allow me to enter any airgun seller sites to research possible candidates. I would like that someone with experience would be so kind to point out the bullet point differences and weights between these two, because they are not evident to me, and their aftermarket customizers (aside from TT and WOK's) for improving and quieting.

Did you do anything to quiet the condor ? I have not heard one but everything I read says they are extremely loud.

Condor = Hammer,Talon = ,well I didn't want to regret not getting the Condor so I didn't bother with the little one.IMHO, I figured what I would save,I'd spend a lot more getting the Talon to be as good as a Condor, so I went all out for the .25 cal Condor and I haven't looked back.

It's a personal choice I guess.

If you are looking for raw power go with a Condor, if you like to plink in the back yard a Talon. The Condor uses more air and the Talon gets a higher shot count. I don't have any mods on my Airforce rifles except a shroud on the Condor all the time (it is very loud without it) and one on the Talon SS when I am using a 24" barrel instead of the 12". My Talon SS with the long 177 barrel will shoot the heavy EJ 16.1 grain pellets at 1000 fps and they hit hard at that velocity. Just got the Condor in 25 but haven't been able to check it with the chrono after someone I was shooting with put a pellet through the face of it a few weeks ago. Both Airforce rifles I shoot like the heavier pellets.

Harry would be a better authority on the difference's between Airforce Rifle's than I.The Condor's not for everyone.

A Condor starts at 6.5lbs from the factory with nothing on it.  Fully-loaded, ie: with scope, shroud, shoulder piece (Wokbutt or other) and tri-rail, it is easily over 8lbs.  With a flashlight/gun light (usually 4-5oz) close to 9lbs, but you can easily remove the light in a few seconds for shooting during the day. 

The Talon 18" (30fpe) is 1lb lighter, and the Talon SS (24fpe) 1.25lbs lighter than the Condor.  So it would seem one of the Talons is probably the "lighter" gun you seek for off-hand shooting at around 7.5lbs scoped and with a couple of light/aluminum accessories like I mentioned above. 

I would recommend NOT mounting the tri-rail to keep the weight down, since that is important to you.  The trirail is heavier than an aluminum shroud/frame extender, or the Wokbutt.  It is the 2nd heaviest accessory usually after the scope.  It's a very nice solid piece, but I would just get high rings to mount the scope, and usually that does it if you adjust the Wokbutt as low as it will go.  If you have a long neck, then you might need the tri-rail.. 

I do not have the tri-rail on my .22 Condor with the Wokbutt adjusted properly.  I realized the gun was getting a little too heavy so I looked at ways of reducing the weight without compromising anything else.  I also like the scope to be closer to the bore.. But the tri-rail has its advantages besides raising the crosshairs and putting less strain on your neck.  It also reinforces the frame where it's the weakest, but that is more important for the Condor than the Talon.  Good luck in your decision.

i happen to have an 18" talon for sale. with the scope and all the goodies its about 7.5 lbs. take off the laser and bi-pod and ull be closer to 7 1/4. check it out in the classifieds gate. ill give you a good deal. i need the $ for a new project. the guns a really sweet shooter and it hits hard. 21.14 gr kodiaks launch around 900 fps or so. about 38fpe for 40+ shots... either way cant go wrong with either gun.
