I have enjoyed learning about the different air rifles here. I have had this FWB 124 since 1984 and recently tried to shoot it but have since found out about the piston seal issue. I have ordered a replacement and have a tuner lined up that is local to service it. There are mountains of information I have been reading and learning more about it. If anyone has any suggestions or good information please chime in I small ears. Thanks to the fellow member s that have offered help.

Looks like a nice deluxe model. I have one that's about ten years older. I bought it new from Air Rifle Headquarters in W.Va., and had it serviced once in the early 80's by Beeman for the seal problem, and again late last year by David Slade at Airgunwerks.com. All I can say is his work is great. I tried the first time and not having an knowledge, when I got the breech plug loose and the spring out, knew I could not get it back in, knowing nothing about spring compressers. I simply stopped and packaged everything up and shipped it out, not wanting to chance stripping the fine threads in the receiver tube.

Gorgeous gun, Rusty!
As far as i am concerned, for that type and class of air rifle, it's the gold standard.

Lizzie,
That is the way I purchased it many moons ago except it was still working at that time. The previous owner mounted the scope on it and removed the sights so I don’t have any to go with it. I plan on leaving it scoped anyway. It has the beeman blue ring 45R on it. I would not mind more information about the combination if someone would not mind sharing.

The nice thing about the 124 is its like a TX200 and no spring compressor is needed to get it apart and back together with relative ease. They are one of the true heirloom quality airguns still available today in relatively good shape and quantities.
I know I love mine for sure.

I installed a Maccari "slightly softer" kit in my early 40xx serialed 124, and I couldn't be happier with it.
Shooting harder than it ever did, (well into the low 800's) and it's super accurate. The best part for me was the guns shot cycle went from a twangy, springy sound, to a low ""thump". Just FYI. You probably wont need a spring compresser to install this kit, as the spring is considerably shorter with it. Still, Harbor Freight has 36" bar clamps for like $11, should you need one.

Lovely rifle. One of these was the first adult airgun I had the pleasure of shooting. A friend offered his to try out, I was impressed that shooting from his deck I could pop green walnuts off a tree on the other side of his gravel drive.
