DIY Self-healing Targets?

Has anyone here made DIY self-healing targets? I am looking for quieter and less ricochet-prone targets for the backyard. I was thinking of making some spinners out of the material whatever it is.
I found a youtube video where the guy used horse trailer mats and cut out human silhouette targets for PB pistol training.

From experience the horse/cow mat will bounce lower speed pellets back at you, 20 FPE and higher they stick in the rubber pretty good.
I made a pellet trap with the same and angled like typical traps, those get deflected down right in front of the trap with lower powered air rifles/ pistols.

You might try a mud flap. I've found a couple before on the interstate, they will allow the pellet to pass through but they reduce velocity dramatically.
I tried a piece of conveyor belt but the pellets would bounce back as Back_Roads experienced.

When I saw the title, I thought of a paint bucket lid I shot up once. It wasn't self-healing, but it wasn't fragmenting like other plastics either. Pellets tended to push through, leaving most of the plastic merely deformed. That made of LDPE (most are HDPE). You can buy LDPE lids at Lowe's, but certain food storage containers are made of LDPE too.
Then I read the post and saw the requirement for "quiet". Hmm. LDPE isn't a steel gong, but it would make some noise. My next thought was maybe a polyurethane casting resin or latex mold material from a place like Hobby Lobby. Of course, that might start costing some money and maybe make those ones that Active Self Protection promotes an option after all.

I use tires from riding lawn mowers, they cut very easily with a razor knife and easy to make, just check your local lawn mower repair shop, they will usually be glad to give them to you….

The quietest backstop I found was a cardboard box filled with old clothing…….old blue jeans work remarkably well. I also use a old sheet of plywood tipped at a 45 degree angle for extra safety …..my neighbor even complimented my setup and said it looked very safe….
