Filling a 90ci Ninja carbon fiber tank

I just go my compressor up and running. I have filled the tank using the foster fitting on the side of the bottle and it works fine. The question is can I fill the bottle using the fill whip connecting to the compressor with a double sided male fitting? The reason I ask is the regulator I have on the Ninja tank is regulated to 2900psi out put. My concern is pushing higher pressure air through the regulator in the opposite direction that it was intended to be used.
thanks
