Walther Parrus front sight fiber

So the fiber fell out of my front sight. It was there, I cocked the gun, vanished into history. The manual says it's 'TruGlo', and it's easy enough to find 'TruGlo' branded fiber, but it comes in a lot of different diameters, and I can't exactly measure mine to check what to get.   It seemed to be smaller than the fiber in the rear sight, but it was probably because that end was closer to my face lol

Anyone know what size fiber will fit this front sight?

George, I did all the research I could and couldn’t find anything. I’ll see if I can make a best guess with my caliper in a few, as soon as I can get to the garage. I really don’t want to remove my sight hood, as it popped off once before and I really cranked on it closed with a pair of channel locks in a rag.

I measured as best I could, and fortunately due to the sizes available it sure does look like .060”. .040” appears to small and .078” too large.

Contact Umarex and they will send you a new one. Mine fell out of my Terrus and they sent a replacement free.

I suppose if you needed to find fiber pins generically, other than Truglo, you could do the math?

Contacting Umarex as suggested by tbs is good idea.
Another option, and one that will have the fiber optic in your hands in a few days is this from eBay

By placing  2 orders, for under 10 bucks you can have the fiber in each of the 2 diameters (.040"/ 1mm & .060"/1.5 mm)

I bought from them to replace the fiber on my Disco front sight, & they shipped very quickly.

Thanks, everyone. I think I'll try the 'get ahold of Umarex route' first. Gonna make sure I measure it before I stick in the gun, and then lose it in the backyard again.

Upon installation of the new fiber optic,  heat the end of the fiber.
This will form a bead and the fiber will not slip out of the sight.
There are probably many ways to heat it.
I used the tip of  a small soldering iron

Congratulations,  you got Umerex to do what they are supposed to do.  Many others have tried and failed!
I measured the fiber tru-glow on my Diana 6G for somebody who lost/broke theirs.  Seems thay are sold in bulk with metric sizes.  Euro guns use metric, makes sense.

Umarex came through, fibers showed up yesterday. For the curious, they are 0.06in (1.5-ish mm?)

Anyone considered trying something as simple as Superglue to hold those things in?? Gun wasn't a German and I rarely use open sights but still wanted the little orange rod in there so I Superglued the little bugger and it's still there.

Thanks for the update, George! Now I’m considering getting some backups, just in case and to possibly try other color combinations, for both front and rear. I’m guessing the rear ones are probably .040” or .029”.

I never have, but I’d imagine it should work as long as it doesn’t eat the fiber. I used to use these a whole lot, years ago, with archery sights & scopes. Experimented with all kinds of lengths & diameters. The longer they are within a certain amount of reason, the brighter they get. I just may start playing with these again with some of my rifles to see what I can come up with.
