There are 2 "Crossman" 66 rifles on ebay:

Other than the chromed barrel on the second one, the are both the same..or, are they??

The shipping rates are different, so I queried the seller.
I was informed that the one with the chromed barrel weighs 8oz LESS than the one with the blued barrel........
I asked and was told that neither had BB's in them, so.......................
the heavier one doesn't shoot...maybe the barrel is stacked full or pellets??

Is that possible ??

 Believe the chromed barrel one to be the newer of the two.
 Notice it is clip fed, and doesn't have a place for a grip cap.
More like a 760 stock.

 Think the non silver one is the better buy, at most, valve seals and a cup.   JMHO.

Hard to believe that there's 8oz difference between the two.
Some fill the butt stock with sand or caulking etc.
Perhaps the black one has a metal receiver, brass valve etc, looks like plastic though?

Personally I like the metal receiver guns, especially if you plan on scoping it.

I inquired about the receives, but not heard back as yet.
Actually the chrome one is 3/4" shorter than the black one..........
I purchased a 66 the other day for $20.00 shipped.......the receivers are broken at the stock attachment point.
I have a new set of Recruit receivers laying around.........should be good to go......

Both have plastic receivers. The barrel is not chrome plated, more like zinc coated. Does not hold up well over time. I prefer the single shot over the magazine myself. Dave

The top one is a '99 made 664gt as it would say on the box and manual.
I have an '05, and an '01 664gt was my first airgun. ( actually made on 9/11 )
All they are is a black model 66 with gold trim.

The bottom one is an '06 made model 664sb, which is just a black 66 with silver colored barrel , trim, scope, and sometimes a black 760 stock from a 764sb ( same situation a black 760 with silver barrel and scope ).
For some reason the very last of the 664sb got these black 760 stocks, while the 664gt just got a black 66 stock with black space instead of the gold one it should have.


For some reason Crosman liked to add a 4 to the model number of special versions of the powermaster rifles as far as the box and manual are concerned, the receiver markings are unchanged.

Yessir.
That is why I used the quotation marks....I let the seller know and she revised the listings....

+1 on great finds on misspelled listings....adding a second "s" is a common error that has helped get me some scores....
