break barrel vs lever

Am I correct to assume that under lever or side lever would be more accurate then a break barrel ?

I've got a minor itch for a new rifle but I'm not anywhere near the knowledge level to buy another rifle also don't have the funds. But I've been wondering that sense a lever cocking rifle doesn't move the barrel in relation to the scope that it would be more accurate then a break barrel...

I know more then a few of you guys have both kinds and would like some feed back from you guys...

That's the hypothesis but people say that accuracy is similar... It's said that the barrel hinge on a break barrel is a weak point and over time it wears to where the barrel is no longer stable...

I agree that they can be as accurate as each other BB/UL but if you stop and think about it FT shooters use fixed barreled guns for a reason! and IMO because I have several BB/UL guns HW and AA guns UL's and BB, all I can say is their all accurate as can be but I perfer the UL's when I want to thread the needle!

I have nothing against break barrels. I have many ,but then you want accuracy it just makes sense not to move the barrel.

If you are not shooting at nationl/world levels of competition, you probably wont be able to decern any, if any, differences in accuracy.

There are a lot of older break barrels out there that have been around for 50 + years, thousands and thousands of shots, and still as sturdy and accurate as new. (if they havent been abused)

Side and underlevers have safety issues that are often forgotten or ignored.

Anti bear trap devices can still be accidently triggered and ackward/unsafe cocking
methods, take the SL and UL's off of my wish list.

You do need to practice safe shooting with UL and SL ,but you can just as easily catch a finger or smash yourself in the head with a break barrel. Not to start a argument but one should always practice safe shooting. I don't care how the gun is cocked.

any Ag can suffer from lock up issues, most of the time its either due to bad parts from the factory from a cheaply built AG or from somebody playing around with the trigger in some way by either adjusting it to an unsafe pull weight or by honing sears or spring changes in the trigger group but anyway you want to look at it if your not willing to hold on to the cocking device in some way your asking for trouble sooner or later and that is to no fault other than the user! an underlever gun is no more unsafe in the lock up than a break barrel is! just my 2ct

A good springer is a good springer.  Both break-barrel and fixed-barrel have won competitions. 

For me, I prefer underlever springers because I find them easier to work on.  I like being able to remove the piston and compression chamber and work on them out side of the gun.  Also, while reality is that either kind can be accurate, I have a hard time fully convincing myself that a moving barrel can ever be as consistent as one that doesn't move.

 Yes SAFETY FIRST an ALWAY's!!! I have both type's an give the edge just ever so slightly to the "fixed" barrel's, not sure if it's lock up on any given day(we all close them a bit different each time we shoot), but as stated unless you are shooting on a higher playing field it's so small as to be a non issue to most of us.

Until the advent of single stroke and precompressed pneumatic target guns, the vast majority of ten meter guns were break barrels.  These had to be extremely consistent and were subjected to thousands of rounds.  The current target guns are fixed barrel due mainly to power plant design.  (No need for a break barrel on a gas gun.)

I find that quite a few air gunners hold their guns to target standards when they are actually well within the norm for a hunting gun.  For informal target shooting and hunting, either a fixed or break barrel is fine.  Sort of like shotguns.  Semi-auto?  Pump?  Double barreled?  They will all get the job done, either busting clays or live birds.  It's kind of like that.

I was worried I would suffer from accuracy issues on my benjamin break barrel after the few thousand shots I've put through it. But it repeats perfect, as long as I do too.
I just got the thing out yesterday after not shooting for a couple months, its still dead on at 45 yards.
