Air Venturi Avenger Trigger / Sear Adjustment

Hopefully the last question for y'all about the AVA, but I've been searching high and low for info about the trigger assembly and trigger adjustment.
Compared to the Hatsans (my only other experience with air gun triggers to date), the AVA's trigger adjustment is quite limited.
I've heard some people saying theirs broke like a saltine and others saying their triggers were mush with lots of creep.
Mine's somewhere in the middle. There's a lot of take up, a mile and a half of creep in the second stage, but the break itself is fairly clean.
I ended up following some instructions on AGN from a couple users, JimD and Dadskrag, and replaced the AVA's travel screw with a longer one.
That did indeed eliminate most of the creep by bypassing the first stage entirely, but it's not exactly ideal. It ends up being an extremely light second stage with no wall whatsoever.
Has anyone here had any luck adjusting their AVA's trigger? I'm wondering if I need to get the entire receiver apart to get to the actual sear and try adjusting it from there. I'd want to watch someone else do it first though!

Alex,
Like you I want a perfect trigger on my Avenger, or any other rifle. Mine is not yet perfect but pretty darn close, the problem was largely getting the balance correct between the two stages and you have already added a lengthened stage screw. An exploded view of all parts including the trigger group can be found and downloaded off the internet. It’s pretty easy to disassemble and then stone hone the moving parts and they really need this step. I also replaced the trigger spring with a lighter spring taken from a ball point pen and trimmed it suitably. All that is left is to disassemble the action and properly stone hone the actual sear contact points to the bolt which I have yet to do. I have been able to eliminate all creep with both the first and second stages and all that is left that is objectionable is the tiniest “third stage” creep, or felt click and then its perfect. I think that “click” is coming from the bolt/sear so If I am going to make it perfect it looks like that must be the last trick to perform.

Appreciate the reply, Tom.
I think with a great trigger, the AVA would have to be the
best
PCP on the market at its price point. It's already close, but that lack of a defined wall in the creepy second stage is severely holding it back.
The only reason I hadn't pulled the receiver apart is because it wasn't terribly obvious as to how it was held together. It looks like a solid plastic brick with a few pins holding everything inside.
I'll see if I can't find that exploded parts view (and a little courage).
Edit: Here's the
exploded parts view

The parts are indeed held in place by pins. I like my triggers to be about 1 lb and I prefer to have no first stage. My 3 bullpups must have a first stage to have a safety but my AV has no first stage. It's about a pound and crisp, no creep. I don't really understand what a "wall" is with respect to a trigger. I just press my AV trigger and after about a pound of force is applied the gun fires. There is no movement prior to discharge. Seems about ideal to me. I do have a longer sear screw in my AV and also my 3 bullpups. I think the short screws were designed by lawyers, not engineers. I could not eliminate creep with the stock screw. It is possible to modify the geometry of the parts to accomplish the same thing but that seems pretty risky to me. I would want another set of parts available before I tried that. I am not talking about a light polish. I am talking about trying to eliminate the creep using the stock sear screw. I think you'd have to remove enough metal there is risk of going too far and having a gun that won't cock.
Maybe the wall is a reference to preferring a first stage. My bullpups are set to have a very light first stage followed by a pretty clean and crisp second stage. You could call pulling through the light first stage getting to the "wall". If that is what is meant then the wall on my AV occurs immediately. I could have a first stage on my AV but I did not want it. Just a matter of turning the three screws to get there.
I like my Marauder pistols trigger the best of my 5 PCPs but I would rank the AV next - after adjustment including the longer screw. There is some takeup on the Prod but it's light and the second stage is nice and light and crisp.

Ah, the man himself! Yes, with regard to the "wall," that's the second stage.
A single stage trigger is one smooth pull which is consistent in pull weight, and then a bang.
A two-stage trigger is going to have a smooth pull - the take-up - where the sear is easily moved just before the point of breaking. You'll feel the pull weight become noticeably heavier, ie. the wall.
Once you feel that wall, you know it'll take just a pound or so of force to break the trigger sear, and it's ideally a clean, crisp break.
I have a beautiful two-stage match trigger in my PTR-91, for instance. Super light take-up on the first stage, and the trigger will suddenly hit a solid wall.
A little less than one pound and that trigger will cleanly break like a saltine cracker.
My AVA is nothing like that. And just for clarity, I don't expect a match trigger in my Avenger, but I am hoping I can get a functioning two-stage trigger out of it!
Even after adjusting the travel screw, I've got a very light first stage which runs seamlessly into a sloppy, heavier second stage before a very slight further increase in weight before the break.
I'd say that second stage has a good 1/8" of creep to it.
Now, I did try your recommendation too, and that was to adjust the sear screw itself.
That made me a bit uneasy just because of how little engagement the sear would have once the hammer is cocked, so I went back to Dadskrag's approach and adjusted the travel screw instead.
The AVA bullpup's trigger was impressively smooth from the factory. I didn't care for it as it was purely a single stage trigger, but I will say, it was a very nice one.

Yes, I know it’s an older thread, but this may still help someone. I use my Avenger exclusively for benchrest and want the lightest trigger possible. I found that A.E. Swede makes a very good after-market trigger for the Avenger. Everyone that shoots mine comments on the trigger. I don’t know how many ounces though.
