I’m gonna tare it down for good cleaning. So I have a few questions since I’ve never had a bottle gun

1. Does the bottle a valve & can I just unscrew the bottle?

2. Do you have to de-gas the gun to adjust the regulator?

3. Is there anything you can do for regulator creep? I just noticed it after sitting over night the reg creeps up to 2000psi.

4. Barrel twist? Anyone know what the twist is? It’s a 17” barrel.

I’m sure there will be more as I take it apart. Thanks for any information!!

1. Does the bottle a valve & can I just unscrew the bottle?  NO YOU CAN NOT !! there is no check valve used on end of regulator or bottle adapter so gun must be emptied of air before removing tank

2. Do you have to de-gas the gun to adjust the regulator? You can adjust to a HIGHER set point w/o degassing, but must degas to reset lower.
not doing so will damage the regulators sealing / seat.

3. Is there anything you can do for regulator creep? I just noticed it after sitting over night the reg creeps up to 2000psi.  Replace or service the seat material ( Likely because of #2 )

4. Barrel twist? Anyone know what the twist is? It’s a 17” barrel.  TJ liners were used ... pending caliber ? look up TJ specs and you have it.

Once the barrel is out, using a rod and jag, tight patch, push it in until you feel the tip at the muzzle. Put a tape pointing at 12: o'clock. (I use painters tape, buty any will do).  Now pull it out until the tape is pointing straight up at 12:oo o'clock again. Measure the difference. This is your twist rate.

To degas, I replace the hammer spring with a properly sized spacer and screw in the hammer spring adjuster until the spacer pushes the hammer into the valve stem and opens the valve.  I previously made a degassing spacer out of a piece of brass tubing that slid over the spring guide, cut to the appropriate length....

I just loosen the overpressure safety to degas.

Thanks guys. I didn’t de-gas so I didn’t pull the valve out. Just took everything apart I could. Man this thing was dirty!! Found several issues: Barrel port was half was covered(I guess from the barrel tension nut being to tight & pulling the barrel forward), snap ring that held the barrel in place wasn’t even in the groove, both barrel orings were nicked, Probe oring inside the barrel is nicked in several places. I’ll be cleaning the barrel & replacing orings tonight. Should be back together tomorrow.

Here’s a picture of the barrel in the breech before I pulled it out.

You should have at the breech end of barrel ..... SNAP RING , WASHER that hold the barrels position against the tensioning.
The snap ring MUST be used with the sharper edged side facing rearward and when put on be radially snug to groove it sets in.

+1 it’s overlooked but like Scott said all e-clips and snap rings have a flat side this side should go against the side being pulled against. There is a thin washer that goes between the breech and e-clip to prevent clip from digging into breech. It must be there to keep TP in correct spot

Position of the snap ring was the first thing I looked at. It was on there backwards.

One other question: it has a metal hollowed out hammer with no striker installed in it now, it also came with a looks like a nylon hammer that has the striker adjuster in it. What’s the difference in the hammers performance wise?

The in the gun now there’s a nylon spring guide, the hammer spring & metal hammer. No striker.

Got the barrel installed with new orings & barrel in the correct position. It went from 825 to 860fps. I’ll have to play with the hammer spring cause it’s still loud & an air hog!!
