RWS Diana LP8

I don't know what Umarex is putting on these screws, but I cannot get the safety screw, 2mm hex, to loosen.  It is now stripped.  The trigger on mine is terrible, otherwise a nice pistol.

Right...I've seen it.  And I also have noted I'm not the only one having trouble with this screw.  In fact everybody except the author of that thread seems to have it.

Which side are you trying to remove ?  I remove the left hand side one but it shouldn't matter which one you do. If you can get all the other screws out, and can get either of the safety screws out you should be able to separate the 2 halves. The safety goes right through from side to side so it should come apart.  If it doesn't work, let me know and I'll try it on mine. (I'm the one who put up those photos, they're here on this site too.)

I was trying the left side, same as the screws.  Never had any luck.  Sent pistol back since I could not stand the 9 lb trigger with long first or 4 lb with short first stage.  Compared to my P-1, P-2, P-3, RWS 9B, Izzy, this trigger stunk.  I was hoping to be able to find some reason for the grittiness when I took it apart.  I did order another one from a different vendor, hoping for better luck,.

Sorry to hear your problems with the LP8 , I have not noticed a heavy trigger pull, but I know it's no where around 8 lbs. Mine is a nice even pull. Was yours a new gun or a refurbe?

Mark; how do you like that Model 9? I'm strangely drawn to that funny looking pistol. I doubt the LP8 trigger will ever be anything like the P1 or P3. They are amazing aren't they? Good luck with the return, tk

I like it enough I actually have two...one is a cometa Indian in silver.   They are fun guns for the price point.  My only complaint is I had to shim the rear sight, and file down the front, and I would not have picked that style of rear sight.   The sight has rounded shoulders.   No way to mount a scope, but that is not what the pistol is for.   Too easy to cock!

I am not sure why Diana decided to change the trigger when they went to the LP8. The trigger on the P5 and all of the model 5's and 6's was a great trigger, with a lot of adjustment ability.

I think the LP8's trigger makes it look like a squirt gun, lol 

But as far as power and accuracy go, I have never heard anything but praise for the LP8. I think I need to go ahead and buy one, sooner rather than later

I got a replacement, this time from SS.   Trigger is tolerable.  Very accurate.

I agree with Chris, I don't know why they changed the trigger on the LP8 from what they used on the other Diana pistols. I have adjusted mine and even though it's still a long creepy pull it's not to heavy and the let off is now fairly predictable.

  The trigger can easily be made nice by polishing the sears, lubing and swapping with lighter trigger spring.  On my LP8 it was the right side screw I couldnt remove but the left came right off.  Perhaps some heat or wd40 would persuade it.  Once you get one side off you should be able to get into the gun.
