I recently decided to get a 4600 CF tank but wanted to make sure I had a place to fill it first. So, I contacted the local diving shop to inquire. Get this, they will NOT fill CF tanks. Why? There insurance will not cover it! I couldn't believe it. I have seen so many videos with people using CF tanks, where in the world do they get them filled if you can't even get it done at a dive shop? Now, I have contacted 3 fire departments, paint ball facility, Dick's sporting goods, Airgas and dive shop and nobody will fill a carbon fiber tank. The best I can do is the dive shop, 4000 psi steel tanks.
I don't have the actual numbers but for nitrogen to be liquid at normal room temperatures the pressure is probably easily 6000 psi that is why it is called a refrigerated liquid gas.
I fill my tiger shark carbon tank from the nitrogen tank. It is 71 cuft and about 20 lbs. many fills!
Just refilled here in WI from Welders Supply, same $56 as always ...
How do you unsal and regulate 4500-5000 psi outflows?
