Interesting accuracy results. Ben. 392

Hey guys just wanted to share some interesting results. I recently put a NC Star 2-7×32 long eye relief scope on my 392PA. I use to have a Williams peep, but my 45 year old eyes wasn't having any of that.😁 I decided to do a little experiment, as I was occasionally struggling to get what I think are good 10 yard groups. I shot 3 groups of 5 shots each, using JSB heavies. The first group was with my right eye open and left eye closed and 5 pumps, as you can see I got a 9/16 inch group with quite a ventricle string. I don't like the looks of that😕. The second 5 shot group was again 5 pumps but with both eyes open. As you can see with the flyer the group was 1/2 inch, but 4 shots went into about 1/4 inch. Hey things are looking up. I then thought to myself. "Self would I get a better group with a heavy pellet if I maxed out the Benji. to 8 pumps". Well as Gomer Pyle use to say " Surprise, surprise, surprise" my last group was the smallest I have shot with this rig yet, 4 pellets into one hole, with one flyer. I swear one of these days I'll  be able to shot a group without a flyer. Then again knowing me probably not.😁 Does anyone have any thoughts or feelings on this whole convoluted experiment? I wanted to attach a photo of the groups,but I guess the file was too big, any ideas on how to do this better?

Stonechucker, I don't know about posting pictures....but your testing won't be complete until you shoot a group with both eyes closed.

Damon,  When you installed the scope, did you put a bubble level across the stock then align to a plumb line by rotating scope ?

No I did not put a level acrossed the stock, but it is a good idea, and something I should have done for sure. That might be a project for after work today.

Damon, it's tough to find a good spot on the rifle to place a level. I use a 5/16"(8mm) x 7/8'(22mm) long bubble level laid across the opened breech when mounting a scope on my 342s or 'Dans. Then one on the top scope turret. Plus, align the reticle to a vertical line to check for cant. The breech was the only spot on the rifle that I felt I could trust to be consistent. I used to lay the level across the trigger guard, but I feel that's too iffy.

You need to resize the pictures to be smaller.  I think the limit is 1200KB, which isn't very big these days.  You should be able to find photo resizers online for your Operating System.  If the photos are under the limit, they attach.

Have you decided on how you're going to mount a scope?

I have already mounted the scope with intermounts. I like the scope forward on the gun. To me it is a lot easier to pump that way. I also put High rings on it for even more clearance for my hand. The Last group I shot at 10 yards was 4 pellets into one hole, and the one flyer was only 1/4 inch away. Sighting with both eyes open and a full 8 pumps seemed to really do the trick.

I like the scope scout mounted on my MSPs too. Definitely makes pumping easier.
