Contemplating buying on of these. Seem to be a pretty nice gun for $150. Who here has one? What do you like and hate about it? What do these generate as in fpe?

It is a 2260 with a steel breech added.

The Sheridan 2260MB nothing more than a 2240 with longer tube and barrel with the steel breech already installed dropped into a wooden stock. I own one and for what it is I enjoy it.
There are guys that get all up in arms about it and get their unmentionables in a twist because Crosman put the Sheridan name on a .22 caliber rifle. While I get it, at the end of the day it’s just a name on an airgun and it doesn’t take away from what it is. And what it is, is a fun, easy to shoot, light weight little rifle. Mine makes just under 12 fpe in temperatures above 70* F and it was accurate enough within the 20-25 yards I had available to shoot in my backyard. I’d get 40 or so full power shots. For plinking and target shooting you can stretch that further. Slip on a TKO and it’s super quiet. The trigger is probably the biggest grip I’d have with it. But it’s useable and there are ways to improve it. And of course it’s in the 22xx family so all the typical modification that you can do apply.
I for one like the power level the 2260 puts out and I don’t mind that it’s co2. There’s a place for their simplicity IMO. Grab a couple of cartridges, a tube of pellgun oil and a tin of pellets and off you go for a little fun. No hassles of pulling out the pumps, or heavy bulky tanks or messing with annoying loud compressors.

If you want a bit more power install a Mountain Airgun custom valve or a Boss valve from Baker Airgun. My 2260 with steel breech and Mountain Air valve will hit 14fpe around 670fps with 14.3g pellets on warm summer days. It does cut the full power shot count down to 15 shots though. I like the longer flatter trajectory though. For shorter range target shooting you may be fine with the stock setup.

With Justin on the 2260...it’s the large end of the Crosman co2 system, not really any difference in the valve that runs it..
Not sure it’s a better co2 rifle buy than the QB78 (which is a cone of an older Crosman design) but the 2260’s have been good rifles. Never could keep from transforming them into something else….then missing the simple 12gr 2260...buying another...cycle repeats.
Lot of rifles out of stock right now but spring is a good time to think about co2.

i bought the 2260 with the plastic breech. had lots of fun with it plinking in the backyard before sending it to Mountain Air to work his magic and install a left handed metal breech i supplied. (the trigger now has a light crisp break) with the increase in power (12fpe +-) it went from 40 to 25 shots per cartridge. i added a TKO and it quickly became my go to gun for eradicating squirrels (when in season) and chipmunks around the yard. surprisingly, the Crosman barrel isn't pellet picky and it shoots no less than 8 different pellets minute of chipper out to 35 yards. i started using it for squirrels in the woods (our season starts august 1st) but with the TKO it was too long. i shortened the barrel the length of the TKO without losing any fps.
the rife is a great tool for youngsters to learn on too. my grandsons love it.

Rather than buying yet another 2260 with intentions of NOT changing it….decided to un-convert one back to 12gr. Did the same reverse conversion on a QB as well. Back to simple 12gr shooters, they get a lot more use.
