i was thinking i should have my 20 year old model 34 tuned. there is no one here in new jersey that could do it.
anyone here on this sight i can use?
i'm torn between fixing up the old one or buying a new one.
i guess cost would be the deciding factor.

I'm sure Shadow can do either a wound wire spring tune or Vortek kit tune for you. If you want to go a bit outside the forum, there's John in PA, hangs out on the Dianawerk Collective forum (and here, too, occasionally). He knows 34's, especially the older one, inside and out. Very good trigger work on the early ones, too. They would be my two picks.

is it just relacing the spring ? cause I've already done that myself. maybe I've been shooting .22 cb caps for too long because i don't remember a springer ever being unpleasant to shoot....

Thge Vortek comes with a new seal, top hat, spring and 2 rear guides. You open it up clean it out deburr the tube install the new seal on piston, lube with proper lubes and close it up
No twang after wards just a thunk....I would also recommend removing barrel pivot bolt and cleaning and relubing that area as well

how do you debur the tube?
i replaced tthe spring (the old one looked perfect btw) with an expensive one from that guy everyone gets their spring kits from... i forget his name ...it had plastic guides that the old one did not have. i put the tar stuff on there. it still feels the same as it did before. i figured maybe i just dont know what the heck i'm doing.
between the kit and the spring compressor i'm into this for about $100 bucks...
i need an instruction book or video...sigh...

I would not hesitate to put a vortek kit in . It did wonders on my older 34. And sense you have already done a spring swap you can do the vortek your self no problem.
ps were in NJ I'm in northern NJ, passiac county
