Some ground Squirrels wreaking havoc

My cousin was having problems with these destroying the property.

Took the .40 cal big bore out and got a few of them.

Even being a little older gun,  it was still very effective.

This was over the past summer,  hope to get back out in the spring.

The gun is from the first half of the 1800's.
Possibly made by Pritchard... it appears very similar to other guns of his.

I fill the ball to 500PSI and it'll get 6 to 7 good shots at that pressure.

It's a fully rifled barrel,  with a tap load...so it's quick to use (no muzzle loading needed)

.395 Hornady round balls work perfectly in it too!

The ground Squirrel here was taken at about 40 yards.

I'll attach a video of shooting a gumball off of a golf tee... the gumball is on the bottom board, just to the left of the plywood.

Very true...
I have some that tell me about their new big bore PCP guns. And I just say,  ya I have a couple that are over 200 years old,  nothing new.

Of course, the new ones shoot farther, with more power and accuracy is better as well with modern guns.

But if you stay within reason,  these old ones will perform as originally intended.

I have a Schembor Girandoni that will have a modern tank made this summer. Once that is done it'll be interesting to see how accurate it really is at 50 to 75 yards... plan is to use that gun on coyotes here. It's a 44 caliber and shoots the hornady. 440 balls pretty good running only 600PSI witch is much lower then originally designed for
