I would agree with Douglas, but I know that Doug Noble, who commissioned that 95 gr. says they work in the 14".... Mind you, I understand he has also commissioned a 13" twist so maybe its not quite fast enough for the best performance?.... TJ's also have a 10", and even a 7" (which I had them make) for those who want to shoot long, heavy bullets....

The 92 gr works great in 1:14. The 200 yd group I posted is with 92 gr bullet.  The mold at arsenal is suppose to be the same bullet. But if its 95 gr something is different.

I can shoot cans at 400 yds easy.  I did have a barrel made in 1:13 just to make sure I was good.  When you have to pay for the tooling it would be sad if it was right on the edge after spending over $600 for a barrel.

Charlie was shooting a 104 gr bullet. That is why he had a 1:14 and a 1:10. He had 80 gr mold and 104 gr mold he shot.

Carl found that he had the best luck with a 85 gr copy of the 257388. He also shot the 92 gr mold from arsenal with great results.

My mold was made by another company and is a little different then the arsenal. Very similar but not exactly the same. I wanted a steel mold and found a company could make it. Used same drawing but they followed it exact. 

I found out couple of days ago they no longer make molds.  They made my .308 and .338 molds also. All 3 shoot great. It's sad that they no longer interested in doing them.

NOE also have a very nice 105 gr. bullet.... I would think that the 10" twist would be great for that.... I know my long boattails won't even come close to stabilizing in a 14".... they will tumble at just 6 yards....

1-44 twist sounds like a round ball/maxi ball black powder compromise barrel... just might be pretty good with subsonic round ball..

So KO, where would you put the FX skid-thru barrels that have a twist rate of 120-150"? Balls with negative curvature?

 would say tis similar  to a smooth bore .410 sending balls with negative base curvature/volume...Foster slugs..

Yes, the Scandalus of Charlies .B He  was/ is  RoachCreek. Our own Lani52. We also shortened the slug to 85 grs. and it is a laser in a .257 at 1-14" Shoots very similar to the all time Accuracy King. The 288.

Sure glad I found this thread. My kinda stuff! I do ;have several 1-14 .257 barrels. Very accurate until you step down to say, 5o -55 grs. Then they tend to spiral starting at abut 90+ yards.
