The action has been light at the local dairy. I’ve done my task too well. The rats have been scarce and they are my preferred prey. I shot this fatty at 40 yards through the mower you see in first image. My rat kill zone is at the end of this feed corridor. Circled in red. Four feet across at most, with the manure collection directly behind. I shot a second one as big but could not retrieve it. Even with solid kill shots some make it back to their holes, which are inches away. Today there were lots of starlings in that corridor but I couldn’t shoot as there were too many cows in the background. I also smoked some sparrows at 54 yards. By the way that’s a size 10 boot next to the rat. Next week I’m going to try and get a new permission at a place that looks promising, wish me luck.

Luis, I would say nice shot, but that rat is huge! So, it was just too easy of a target.
