I thought that I would share this as someone may find it useful.
I took some inspiration from the adjustable Beeman P17 trigger and decides that my AS392 trigger should be as good as any gun costing less than $8 delivered! (Tall task in this case)
I had a piece of 5/32" key stock tig welded to the bottom of the sear. I also changed the sear engagement angle from approximately 17 degrees to approximately 5 degrees. After shaping the keystock I heated the sear cherry red and quenched it in warm oil. I confirmed that it was hard and then tempered it at 400 degrees. The last step was polishing.
The trigger got drilled and tapped #4-40 for the first stage adjustment screw and also for another screw serving as an over-travel stop. I also did a little bit of shaping and polishing as I didn't love the hard edges and rough factory finish.
Setting up the adjustments was a trial and error endeavor, but I am pleased with it. There is now an extremely small take-up prior to the first stage. The first stage is long and soft and there is a very distinctive wall when the original sear contact point engages. The remaining pull is lighter than before and it breaks with minimal additional travel (I was worried about hammer drag so I adjusted to be sure that there was a little bit of travel after the break).
I am hoping this improved trigger tightens some of my groups up.
Thanks.

The first time I hit it, I missed. The second time I hit it in the same place.
