I always loved the Gatling Gun.
I've been thinking about trying to build one using the SMG .22 as the base.
Grab some cheap .22 barrels from Crosman then do the hard work to get it all working.
I'm thinking the electronic trigger used in Tippmann paintball guns could be adapted to work.
Is that a crazy idea?

I cannot speak to the specifics but it sounds like a great project!
Years ago I was watching junkyard wars or something like it and they were building paintball tanks (vehicles).
I got the idea in my head to build a paintball gattling gun.  i lied awake all night planning that one, I did not know anything about HPA then so i was going to use butane and parts from nailguns, and cordless drill motors.

That sounds more like a modern motor run Gatling.
Having had a couple SMG .22's
I believe one could be built with the right people involved.

You got my gears turning. A swashplate with probes that go through the belt to load the pellets into the barrel. Then some sort of manifold to blast the pellet out when it lined up to the transfer port.

I would think that you would want to stagger the plates so as to load the pellet, then seal off the chamber, then apply the charge.   Might want to use round balls to aid in feeding.   The Hornady #4 shot is real consistent in size,  the Gammo .22 not so much.  My .02

this.. another way to do it is with cheap semi auto pistols, actually have 8 of them on the rotating mechanism and just time the trigger pulls.

well, if we really think about it this is exactly what a crosman 1077 or vigilate does.. the mag has indexing features, and the pellet is fired perfectly at top dead center while not connected to the barrel in any fashion at the time of the shot

I was thinking a Vulcan... instead of a hand cranked Gatling... would be stinkin COOL!

Vulcan is a belt fed system. SMG .22 is a belt fed system.
The trigger on the SMG is mechanical but by all accounts I can trace? The electrical trigger system for their paintball guns might interchange!
Electrical systems are easier to time for. So given a few motors I have on hand along with the belts to drive them?
I do know what a regulated tank hooked to the SMG with a 400 round belt will do!
Been there done that!

Only if it is CO2... Regulated HPA in a 45CI bottle and I think you're golden.
