Of the stick on lead WWs I have encountered they seemed to be soft lead and may be suitable for pellets which is why I am asking and very grateful for everyone's input. This would be the only ones I would pick out to use and probably purchase around 50 pounds worst case I smelt it and sell it on Ebay as WW lead for a couple bucks a pound...

I have been using stick on wheel weights for many years now for black powder and now pellets with out any problems. Just make sure that they bend easily and you can nip them with side cutters. Today most sticks are now either Zinc, diecast or Iron and are easily separated from the lead ones.

Always soft lead for sale in the swapping and selling section. Usually runs about a buck a pound plus shipping.
In the US, a flat rate box runs a lot of lead CHEAP!

Stopped by the local tire shop and they sell WW in 5 gallon buckets for 35 dollars so I said what the hey. So far all I did was separate the stick on from the clip on and trash. I started with at least 130 pounds as that's where my refrigerant scale cut out at. The stick on weights came in at 38 pounds but I know that will get to be less after I sort them. Id still be at it but its cold out and no heat in the garage. Next will be sorting them further and smelting them down.

It looks like they are still smelting lead so I wouldn't think there would be a shortage of "good lead"

Went out to sort the useable stick on WWs lights didnt come on. Had a friend stop by then my LL son came over and tried to find one of the fuse blocks and turned out to be the switch... Install a new switch now I dont wanna mess with it.

I sorted the stick on WWs and got 38 pounds of junk with 11 pounds of usable lead... So only way I can recover this mess is to take the lead clip-on WW is to smelt them and sell that off. I would need at least 24 pounds to sell at 1 dollar a pound to break even cash wise not including efforts. At the end of the day I had the understanding that this would not be a perfect scenario but more a learning experience. To me the experience is worth more than the money spent, I will take the junk to the scraper later on so not all is lost.

   If you know any roofers you could check with them. I have gotten many lbs. of soft lead from several roofers I know. They sometimes get a lot of scrap lead flashing when they do tear offs on old buildings. The lead is usually pretty dirty but is almost pure lead. I just melt it down in an old cast iron pot and use a lot of sawdust to clean off the dross.

I thought that you wanted this for casting, why are you selling cheap?

I would definitely only go for the stick on ones only I dont want to deal with the clips.

When you melt them the steel clips float to the top. Skim them off with the crud.

I have been using wheel weights for 20+ years, for casting, when you would get 80% lead and 20% Junk, now you get 15-20% lead and 80% un-useable junk. I still get 100 lbs. of WW's every other month and it takes about 2-3 hours to sort through them so presently it's not worth it. I guess I will now have to start buying from Roto Metals if I want to continue to cast.

I wasnt looking to use the clip on WW as the tend to be a alloy from my understanding. Those will get melted and sold the rest will go to the scrap for tin weight.
