me and the better half are gonna make a day trip to Bristol tomorrow to do some casual shopping and there's a bass pro , cabelas and dicks there and i'm gonna look at scope caps for my new CP 3-12x44 SF scope . gonna take it with me so i can make sure i get a good snug fit in case i find something me and my wallet like . was wondering what you folks use or recommend . my CP came with the better than nothing rubber band type and i think i want something that flips up and i'm debating on clear/see through vs just black ... i figure anything clear enough to somewhat accurately see through is gonna be way above what i'll want to pay . looks like butler creek is gonna be about my only choice and they get good comments on youtube , but i've been disapointed buying based on youtube videos a few times .... sooo ...... what's y'alls opinions/suggestions ?thanks
Stretchy band types are better for when you go the range and really shoot. The flip up ones are good for hunting in the field. When you go to range or shoot from a bench rest, just take them off and shoot. When done put them back on...The flip up ones that came on my MTC scope-which I love-always rotate when I shoot. The front one rotated so much that it came off. I have yet to put it back on. -YPS if Butler Creek is to dear for your wallet, look at the Vortex ones. They are a good 30% cheaper than Buttler Creek. Forget about the see through ones!!!!
I prefer the rubber band "bikini" style. I have bought and tried to use the flip up's, but rarely do they fit perfect, and get in the way, especially if you have a front adjustable objective.
