Go the Crosman web site and take a look if there Dome 7.9's  are available outside of box 1250's 
* For some the Hollow point 7.9 premier in 500 count tins shoot nearly or equally as well.

I always keep a box of CPL on hand. My R9 loves them.
They are far more consistent than CPHP.
Just shot these quick groups today to illustrate the difference.

I have a box of  Crosman 7.9 Premiers at home in/from a 1250 box.  I'm happy to send you some pellets to try, but i'm out out town till early next week.  LMK by PMing me.

The 7.9 premier hollow points are very hit and miss. I've had great tins that print excellent (under 30 yards). I've also had some that would throw lots of fliers upto 4 inches away from the POA. They're basically good for kids and tin cans. I'd rather spend the $26 and get something consistent even if it wasn't the best grouping pellet for my gun. Also the brown box ones can vary from box to box. Each box is stamped with the die letter it was made from. Pellets will vary from die to die. Generally they all shoot pretty well in most rifles. If you have more than one rife something you have will shoot them good. Regardless of which die the come from.

i have cphp.  i also have jsb, rws, h&n.  i'm trying a wide variety to narrow down the most accurate and also the ones good enough for plinking cans and silhouettes.


surprisingly, the crosman destroyers shoot very well for me out to 20 yards.  i use them for hosps and cans.

That's funny I didn't have any luck with the destroyers in any gun. But I might have just gotten a bad tin, like you can get with all the other Crossmans. Maybe if I tried them again they'd work. I'm just not willing to roll the dice on them when I have so many other more consistent brands.

Two years ago I bought six tins of .25 Destroyers from one of our match directors.
He was liquifying the estate of another shooter.
Having just bought my .25 I figured WTH?
I shot a tin.
I melted the rest of them into a lead ingot for re-loading purposes.

I have yet to have one of my rifles do worse than .75" groups at 30 yards with the CPHP 7.9... but I am a pumper/pcp shooter do not own a springer... they also come as Benji hollow points in 750 count tins... Wallys used to have some really good sale on them and some other pellets that is when I stocked up... in some of my rifles the 7.4 pointed can be just as acurate...in one (Crosman 2100b) the 7.4 pointed did best mostly .3"-.5" at 30 yards...

right now they are at a pretty good price at 8.15  a tin... that is less than 1.1 cents a shot...

the CPHP at 5.99 right now which comes to about 1.2 cents per shot...

back about 3-4 years ago got some of the .177 10.3 ultra mags on sale at like 3.60 a tin of 500... My BSA Buccaneer like them  best with the H&N 15g snipers...

Most of the time they end up being one of the good reliable pellets but not the best... oh in .22 My Maximus stacks the CPHP 14.3 & Benji hollows at 30 yards but hates the domed 14.3 ... 

So anyways I keep the Crosman pellets around but have never tried them in the Brown box... The have been very consistant for me out of the tin. 

I do have some tins of Benji Hollow 14.3 that consistently shoot about 10 fps faster than the CPHP 14.3 with same accuracy...never did figure out why... 

Destroyers and wads are good for about 20-25 yards in my pump rifles

The die lot marked and production dated Premiers only come in the 1250 count box (well, the 7.9 grain CPLs are 1250 count boxes). I buy mine by the case which contains 4 boxes which is perfect for the Pyramyd Air "buy 4 pay for 3 deal". The "boxed CPLs" have fairly consistent and rather large heads.........


Crosman also supplies what they call Crosman Premier Hollow Point (actually more of a dimple in the head) in 500 count tins, however those come from multiple dies "all bunched together" without die lot or date markings. Also, the pellet heads are smaller than the boxed CPLs and I have found some tins have excess parting compound on them, but I've also had an occasional case of boxed Premiers that were "dirty" from excess parting compound..........

I read others claiming the same, however that hasn't been the result I got from my .177 Beeman R9 UNLESS I first sorted the CPHPs by head size and shooting only the larger pellet head size lots. Even at that, the results weren't any better than I got shooting die lot marked and dated CPLs from the 1250 count box. The main issue was that only about 1/3rd of the CPHPs fit snug enough to shoot consistently which makes the accurate "cheap CPHPs" rather expensive on a "per useable pellet".

Here are a couple "bucket and sticks" targets shot using my .177 Beeman R9 shooting a couple Tractor Supply Winchester domes and CPHPs from 500 count tins compared to targets shot by my R9 using boxed CPLs.........


My .177 HW95 has a slightly tighter leade/bore and it does shoot pellets with "variable head sizes" better than the .177 R9 with a looser leade/bore. Here are a few 18 yard groups shot with the .177 HW95 and a couple "cheap pellets from tins"...........


One pellet brand from a 500 count tins that is consistently accurate from both my tighter leade HW95 and looser leade Beeman R9 has been the 8.4 grain 4.52mm Air Arms dome, however they aren't more accurate than "CPLs from the box"..........

I have 2 HW35E's.  One DIY tuned with Motorhead custom-fitted tophat and guide in the OEM spring and another pre-owned and Motorhead tuned HW35E.  Both seem to prefer the CPHP pellets, in my hands above others, including the sometimes highly touted CPLD's in a box. 

My other HW and Diana rifles prefer the AA pellets, FWIW.
