Just to clarify... you don't want a spent one. You'll want to gut a fresh one.

So you pull the plastic wad, shot and powder out of it.
BIL had a ton of .22 ammo when he passed. My sister loads me up every time we visit.
I seen people put a 22 in a straw and throw it. It goes off and who know to where.
A little rich for this gun... so I went to Ebay and found a lighter spring for $9. Supposed to go down to around 1-2 pounds, which is more than light enough. Off a rest, it's not that hard to shoot with a stiff trigger, but offhand, the lighter trigger spring should help quite a bit. If I want to get fancy and feel energetic, I can smooth the trigger parts out to slicken it up a little. Plus, that trigger is coming from the UK... and shipped, it's 40 British pounds, which is around $50... and you have to wait on it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/LIGHT-TRIGGER-SPRING-Crosman-1377-1322-2289-2240-2250-2300-2400KT-1300KT/112830578578?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item1a4539ff92:g:JjwAAOSw6S5dG73q&enc=AQADAAAB0KX%2FKt4E1xf3SDqEdBclaYZhd9x98U%2F3fGlBFLMkwFigXbJeJNF2Aac64PgXEReg6DEp44eLNrGZkMYn%2BYLOW4LdU2OtIT2fpO6yTWP1LkY6oOv2r%2BqGzKNBu%2BgDVtX5WMfkcQElmUr9MCcEQrdDLkogrjjDbuvclXfK0%2BVOawsiwD7JrQ2%2BOmM53qsoYv%2FWksZGArjgTvTWZT5BSPgjptWO7saAdTqC6tFk%2B0%2BhxVadYQopnXG60VzmboJ%2BEq%2FUB7i%2Boeks7kapVZCDatOBa5RaKtHeh0eD%2FzUWqTwxGNvLSyuuOcNiaEC73%2BTpV7dT1OuLGZLObHNbYblAPS3s0EqP63KwqEmzsroacRdAsaeGfh7rmH4Tk%2FDUYyNAd0BSXOTX7G1YPQte4tzxh3ragY9cJZOu%2Fz31SXmVXuEtJUUuJFX7%2Ba6aneLMEGch9wgFACcosomiHfwNleaZmU94FIiKCejKc7B5fJV5dEIMNh1Q1r3tSa0hgxQ4QdW62W%2F3qVzNV8UvBZeWAUAqE8clm880nlU0oBXibhcIRX2MuRaXEJqlNk%2FlC3PYU4AQbjaoAPr5WxxZ%2B%2FDYfbMeWaKrpSEA8AzHUUGuacLZh1zA32fz&checksum=112830578578de9e4a066d2045b28be74a34b39ac54e
Polish that shell casing up real good and put some moly paste on it. You can even squeeze the spring until coil bind and hold for a bit.
You're shooting offhand? Try resting off a bag on a table. And if you ever get to try a carbine stock.....WOW!One more step.... polish that sear where the shell casing contacts it and put some moly there as well.
