Benjamin Marauder .22 or ???

Which air rifle can compareable to the marauder? I want to buy a quiet strong rifle for that price range.

The Marauder stands alone with its features at that price.

I don't have one, but I intend to someday.
By all accounts, it is superb.
The bonus is that it's made in the U.S., an incredible rarity these days.

I don't know, for a few extra bucks you could get the Blizzard/Rainstorm, such a great rifle !!!

I have been asking the same question. I already have the Marauder in .22 and wanted a .177 to compliment it but I didn't want another Marauder. I guess I too will have to look at the Rainstorm. I just hope it is just as quiet as the M-Rod.

the main noise is the ping, and the pellet hitting the target extremely hard

put a depinger on it and it will be as quite as a mouse

I think the .177 M-rod is a better choice over a .177 Rainstorm for these reasons.

Evanix guns are suppose to be charged to 2900psi vs 2500 for the .177 M-rod
No parts or service vs great parts and service
Made in Korea, Mediocre Manufacturing vs good quality.
They are not highly regarded on European and British Air gun forums
and know for breaking quickly.
The .177 is way overpowered for target shooting and is marketed as a hunting rifle.
A lighter hammer spring and lower fill pressure may be required for target shooting.
The M-rod is much more adjustable.

I wanted a Rainstorm or a Blizzard real bad.
But I'm happy I got the .177 M-rod now

It's a waiste getting such a powerfull rifle in .177, they shine in .22 cal, far superior than a Mrod,.......ho yeah I thought the poster asked about .22

Keith, I think you may have offended his rifle.  I agree with you though. Having heard that Greg Davis has a .177 mrod that shoots CPHP at 1000fps, I can't imagine what a tuned rainstorm would do.  I can hear the sonic crack now.

I have a Evanix Blizzard in .22 calibre and a Marauder in .177.
The Blizzard compares very favorably with a friends AA 410s. Very favorably and I have more power than he does. Both are just as accurate at 40 yards.

I have not shot the .22 calibre marauder. I shoot the .177 calibre marauder often. Today I nailed three blackbirds and scared a few thousand off sunflower fields by shooting into the masses. Maybe killed a few, maybe not. But, I scared them off which means they go somewhere else to eat and maybe my neighbors sunflower crop will be a bit better for my shooting.

The Marauder is nice but not in the same league as the Blizzard in finish or power. I know the .22 Calibre marauder hits harder than the .177 calibre but see it is not as powerful as the Blizzard. Used blizzards from Pyramyd Air are in the $500 range. A bit less if you buy from individuals and get lucky. Mine... I love it. I get 40 good shots from a fill just like I do with the Marauder. It feels much more solid all the way around. Beautiful stock with a nicer finish. Mine is the thumbhole version and I just bought a reguar one for a friend.

You wont go wrong with the Marauder but, there are nicer options for not much more outlay of cash. I would seriously consider a used Blizzard or the new Rainstorm. Read more reviews and see if you can find one of each to shoot. Both are nice. If I had to choose the Blizzard would be the one for me.

Just a couple of observations.
Since most people who are interested in accuracy don't want to venture into 1,000fps range, and the Marauder nicely manages mid to low 900fps, I have to wonder just how advantageous will an extra 50 or so FPS be.
Also, you forget that the Marauder is noted for being considerably more quiet than either the Blizzard or Rainstorm, a very important consideration for shooters and nosy neighbors.
And don't forget the duel fuel capability, which would come in handy for those occasions when your hand pump is broken or you have not had a chance to fill your scuba tank.
You can always run down to Wal-Mart and grab an 88 gram (and adapter) or refillable CO2 tank.

I don't know. I do know nailing a coyote with one shot, hitting blackbirds at 75 yards and the pencil thin ground squirrils at that range is nice. The bit of extra power and using heavier pellets makes it nicer for one shot kills with raccoons, skunks and even badgers.

In shooting my .22 Calibre blizzard next to the .177 Marauder, there is very little difference. I can shoot each in a parking lot and no one notices. The Blizzard may be a bit louder but both are so quiet you don't notice them.
