Today I was at Dick's Sporting Goods. Been eyeballing their 99 dollar G1 Extremes. They also had a couple of Gamo Big Cats.
With all the talk about the change in their trigger group I decided to take a closer look. They were metal. And wow they are really light compared to the G1. So...one followed me out of the store and into the trunk. Well, I can get a G1 anytime and I have an XT Storm. Got home and just had time to take a few shots. Twang, almost boing. But I like the feel and balance of this gun. We'll see how she shoots after I get some glass on her.

i did an impulse buy today and i dont need anymore guns. i always check various classifeds mainly for pellets but came across a tuned gamo 68 in .22 for 100 shipped. i never had a gamo and never did but its such a cool looking gun and was made in 1968 so i couldnt resist. he said it only did 450fps w/hobbys and is a tack driver at 20yds but it sounds like an awsome plinker and is perfect for my spinner shootin. and the fella that has it is a respected tuned on the diana forum(jim in pa).

Lots of the guys here say their Gamos are super accurate. The Big Cat seems solid. And it must only be around 6 pounds. Easy to cock. But does have a distinctive twang.

I have a few of the older GAMO Shadow 1000's and they are all tack drivers. Like you pointed out, they are also extremely light weight wise and you can carry them around hunting for hours on end without any bother at all. As for the twang.... a good tune will take care of that and turn it into a different rifle.

If it was easy it wouldn't be hunting it would be shopping.

I really like my G1 from Dicks. I looked at the Gamo and turned it down, after all the bad things I've heard about them. But based on what you guys are saying, I may have to reconsider.
