22 to 177 disco conversion?
«

I have read that many people convert their 177 disco to 22. I currently have a 22 disco and would be interested in converting it to 177 but do not know what is involved in the process. I have a couple of questions that I hope some of you may be able to answer.
1. Is it just as simple as a drop in barrel kind of thing?
2. Will I get the same/more/less power and accuracy as the original configuration in that caliber?
3. Besides the barrel/bolt assembly, is there any other exclusive parts to either caliber that will remain the same even after the conversion is done? In other words, after the conversion, is the gun configured in essentially the same way when you order it from a retailer?
5. Where can I get the parts do to this conversion? How much does it cost?

Crosman is a good place to get the parts. A few guys have have ordered the parts needed in the last month or so for about $30.00. I did a writeup for them and if you send me an email I would be glad to forward it to you.
Gary
PS: put Disco barrel swap in the subject line so I will see it in case it shows up in the spam.

You would need a barrel and breech/bolt. The barrel is around $15-16 and breech/bolt kit around $25 or so. Add $4.50 shipping. Pretty easy exchange. And Crosman is the cheapest place to get them, as Gary says.
Sell me your .22 parts if you decide to go that route.
And welcome to GTA Forums. Glad you found us and joined up.
Happy Shooting!!!!

Gary, I sent you and email.
Ezman, I tried the crosman website but was not able to find the parts on their website, only complete rifles and accessories. Would I have to call them and order it through a representative or have I missed the section on the website? TIA.

Crosman has EXCELLENT customer service but they don't like doing the research for you. Especially since they are extremely busy on the phone helping customers. So, you need to have your part numbers in order before you call. All parts manuals are available online at crosman.com.
http://crosman.com/airguns/service/manuals
Just click on the Benjamin/Sheridan pistols and rifles, scroll down and find the .177 Discovery. Click to open the parts manual for it and write down the part numbers.

Then call (800)724-7486. Ask for Kim or ext 3103. She is off this afternoon but try tomorrow.

I looked into changing to 22 caliber. The parts you need are down in the parts list on the side called "Unique Parts List" one for the 177 and the other for the 22. The barrel, bolt and an o ring.
