Open sights, shavig down the front blade?

I have had a couple of pistols now with open sights on them.

Almost all of them did not have enough elevation adjustment for close range shooting as the screw was not long enough and would come loose before it reached 'level'.

I was wondering if one could not shave down or shorten the front blade a little to help raise the poa?

Yes it can be done.  You can also use an epoxy to raise the front sight and lower the point of impact.  You will probably lower the value of your airgun.

Well this time it is a Diana Bandit, but I have had issues with a Chaser, and a 1322 as well. The Chaser I fixed by putting a longer screw in it. I tried the screw in the Bandit and still could not get it high enough.

Sometimes I plink at very close range, maybe 3 yards, when indoors and its is raining or dark. You know just to pass the time and get some trigger management practice in.

The gun is pretty new so I will get a couple of hundred rounds through it before I start hacking things up

If you can get parts for it,buy a replacement sight; have one modded to your liking to use,and Original to replace it if you sell.

If you have access to a 3d printer and know the barrel OD these may help. If you dont have access to a 3d printer I can do it but I have to order a new print bed broke the glass on mine...

Another idea is to add a storm rider barrel band and mount a random sight like this to it.

I raised the front sight on a Crosman 130 pump( it's a beater) by Super gluing a lite pipe (Fiber Optic) to the top of the sight.
 Super glue can be removed(to change it back) with nail polish remover .

Oh geeshe thanks for reminding me! I have a Barrel band that came with the chaser and meant to put it on the bandit and forgot about it till now.

Funny thing is that I just got through cleaning up the lead and polishing the barrel! Now I have to take it apart again

Yes by lowering the front sight it forces you to raise the muzzle end of the gun to align it with the rear sight.

That's what I thought but figured I would confirm that. I still kinda cant wrap my mind around raising the rear sight raises the POA, seems counter intuitive.

Raising the rear sight also forces you to raise the muzzle.
