dremel and my 1377 trigger mod!

So, i was looking around for some trigger mods to do to my 1377. Iv already put on the steel breech, a nice heavy-duty BSA red dot, and a flat top valve and piston from charlie mellon. The one thing that urkerd the heck out of me was this gritty crunchy trigger. First i smashed the spring with a pliers and stretched it to fit. That didnt work the way i wanted it to so, i broke out the dremel!! I took out the sear and the trigger and went to town. I drilled a hole through the trigger at the point where the round part of the trigger contacts the bottom of the sear. Originally, i was going to find a machine screw that fits, and thread it into the hole, then crazy glue the bearing to the tip of the machine screw to make an adjustable roller-trigger. Too much work to do that, i scrapped that adjustable idea and I found a small ball bearing, about 5/32", maybe a little bigger. I glued that bearing to the top of the trigger(right ontop of the hole i made) Next move was to remove some material from the sear. I took a graphite cut-off wheel and cut an L shaped notch out of the sear, where the trigger would contact it. I cleaned it up with a grind wheel and made it nice and flat, then knocked off the burrs with a wire wheel. Next, i took some of my 4 to 7 micron stainless-steel polish and attacked the area i butchered up. Then i polished the heck out of the point where the sear touches the hammer. after i was content with the mirror finish i put on the stainless steel parts, i gooped them up with JM molly paste, and gooped the ball bearing i installed. All i can say is WOW!!!! I am so stoked on this mod! My trigger pull is about the same as my tuna trigger on my npXL!! The only thing i have left is to drill another hole and install a set screw to limit the trigger travel. Then i can adjust the length of pull so that im happy with it.as it stands right now, its a 1/4" pull, but i think i can do away with atleast 1/8" of that with an adjustment screw installed. I will take some pictures tonight or tomorrow and post them for you guys. I expect that you dudes will be using this awesome trigger mod on your 1377's to make your trigger AWESOME! I will post some pics of the mod and my groups at 10m for you dudes. later!

Sounds like you got great results from your mods! thanks for sharing! One thing to be aware of though. Those Crosman sears are not hardened all the way through. If you grind away too much it will expose the softer metal which will wear away quickly where there is metal to metal contact. Let us know how yours holds up.

Not too bad! Im very happy with the results. Cost, was about .63 cents at home depot for the set screws (it came in a 2 pack) i found a ball bearing inside a cruddy broken ratchet i had, and spent about an hour of playing with my dremel!! Here are the results
this is sort of an idea of what i did and where exactly i cut holes and did mods. The only thing is i have to take it apart again and grind away some material on my safety now. the safety wont engage because iv taken up all of the slack in the trigger. For now, the safety is, just dont cock the bolt and load it until your ready to shoot. this week, i will dremel away some plastic off my safety to make it work again!
10 shots, 3 pumps, shot freehand at 10yds. I shot another group with the pistol rested on my work bench and a balled up sweater. I didnt take a picture, but its a single ragged hole about the size of a .22 cal pellet hole!!
im very pleased with my almost free trigger mod. And @ toolmaker, im not entirely too concerned about the hardened surface being ground away. worst case scenario is the gun wont stay cocked. in the event i experience a negligent discharge or a failure to stay locked tot he rear, i can loosen my setscrew a bit and have the hammer bite down and engage the sear a bit lower. for now, its awesome. i will definatly keep you guys posted though. maybe i can heat this sucker up red hot and quench it in some ice water. that oughta harden the stainless back up again. =) thanks dudes!
