My 880 Loading Straw ... Works Great ;- )

I have had a bear of a time loading in pellets quickly as you would use in a hunting or field situation, so something had to be done:

I took a bar straw that has an ID of about .200 and cut it at about 3.5 inches ... enough to get under a scope yet not awkward handling once removed. A pellet is put nose first in one end and very lightly pinched so the pellet will not fall through the straw when tipped down, the other end is put on the opening of the pellet bore, the gun is in a tilt down position .. when you release tension on the straw the pellet goes down the straw and slides into the bore opening. There is no pellet going in backwards, sideways or any other way. Once you get the knack down it does very, very fast.

I hold the straw side ways in my mouth, put the pellet in the one end and slightly pinch it and dump the pellet in the bore using the other end ... DONE DEAL !!!

The following pictures show the straw in the receiver as you would get ready to drop the pellet into the bore. The second photo shows what the pellet looks like as it is entering the straw getting ready to be lightly pinched so the loading procedure can continue.

You are so lucky, I try rolling the pellet and it always wants to jump out, go sideways or backwards. I have tried it from both sides and with the gun tilted down also ... this loading port gives ME problems.

I roll them in with my thumb as well. Our 880s like the Winnie domes which are a tad long. I've had to take a file and open the loading ports a bit to keep from deforming the skirts. The straw looks like a good idea that would work with other hard loading guns like the 2100. In that case I use this.....

Plastic tweezers also work for loading the 880 and 2100.
The plastic tweezers are 6 for $2.04 on ebay.

I would like to plug the bb holes on my 880 plus two 2100s.

Hey Earl.  I blocked the bb feed by finding a round rod that fit the chamber diameter at the feed hole. I lubed the rod well and just filled it from behind (dissasembled of course).  I filled with a uv 5 sec. cure epoxy so it did not run.  you could use an epoxy putty like JB WELD also.  I got a perfectly rounded, smooth loading track in seconds with a phillips head screw driver used for the rod.

I shot in the house last night and the pellets went in great using the straw, a huge difference for me.

As far as BB's ... I use lead BB's for an always ready fast follow up shot,  at 8.2 grs they have WAY more poop than a steel BB.

Absolutely worth it to fill the bb loading hole as others have mentioned here. I used a little extra JB weld leftover from filling the slot in the piston top. After a few minutes of the leftover JB curing on the paper plate, I was able to handle it and mold it with my fingers like play dough to shape it how I wanted to fit the hole.

Are you tilting the muzzle downwards while rolling the pellet in ?

If your talking to me, yes I'm tilting the gun down (~45deg) so the pellet easily slides down the straw into the breech.
