Filling at44 with air problem

I used a vise and got it off, disassembled it, and just a spring and a thing that looks like jet from a carb.

after i put the fill probe in and it still leaks air, i looked closer and it looks like a small burr that i think nicked the o-ring, is the o-ring a common size i could get from a hardware or auto parts store? Should i just use some 400 grit to smooth out the entry where the burr is? the outside edge on both sides are sharp, one side has the burr.

that little brass thing that looks like a jet from a carb is the check valve and should have an oring on it in the groove around it.  If it doesn't have an oring air will escape from the fill port. If it did have one but the oring is stuck to the sides of where that check valve seats on rare occasions (usually  when pump filling) air won't enter the cylinder. Basically the oring acts like aan adhesive while the spring is applying force to keep the check valve closed.
Since you already have it open,  clean up the check valve and the area it seats in,  replace the oring  and try filling again, ideally with a tank. Maybe theres someone with a tank setup in your area that can help you by filling the first 1k psi with the tank.

Thanks, the first cylinder leaks air but some goes into the cylinder, it has got up to 150 bar, this is with 6 breaks and over 200 pumps.

The cylinder has been out on both guns all of the time doing this, its too much trouble for me to juggle to see the air gauge with the weight of the gun and the cumbersome of it all.

I am using a hand pump.

So yes, i am sure it is coming from the fill probe and port area, i put my finger in the area and i can hear changes of the air being blocked by my finger, and feel air escaping.

I also thought it was coming maybe from the coupler hose connection to the fill probe, but i took those connections off, and threaded both fill probes directly to the pump hose.

I couldnt do the FS fill probe cause the thread size was smaller and would not tighten to the hose female end, even with 7+ wrapping of teflon, so i had to use the coupler connection with that probe.

I pumped over a hundred into the FS cylinder in different intervals cause it will get warm, with over a hundred pumps the gauge is readin 75 bar.

I wish the original box wasnt destroyed or i would send it back for a refund. I do like everything else about the gun, accurate, cycles good, easy to load, quite, but the rest has been major turn off.

do you have one of these for the fill probe?

it is needed as the probe threads wont fit the threads on the pumps correctly.

It sounds like Ricky may be in the right area with your leak.  The only thing that seals that cylinder in the fill port is the little o-ring on the check valve.  There is also an o-ring on the gauge itself.  You could pull those apart, and go to the hardware store with o-rings in hand to match them up.  There really aren't a lot of o-rings in the air cylinder that would make it leak, so replacing them all is pretty easy.  I've never see a lot of issues with these cylinders leaking.  I've seen more with the valve not being seated well than anything.  Just make sure to clean them all and put a light coating of silicone grease on every o-ring prior to reassembly.

It seems very logical what your saying, this is what i thought was the problem in the beggining, is that the problem is inside the cylinder not letting the air in, thus the pressure building so high that it is releasing out the fill port?

Should i put silicone grease on the o-ring inside the cylinder?

I have already replaced o-rings on the probe itself with 11/32x7/32x1/16 ones, and there was no change doing that.

So i pulled the cylinder apart, forgive me i put a knick in the tube, no vise, so i used a rag on a pipe wrench. I used lithium grease for the o-ring and put it all together and it took air up to 150 bar, i could hear a slight hiss while pumping it.

I tried switching o-rings 3 times, after inspecting with magnifying glass, they were torn, replaced them with teflon under them to shim them to bigger diameter, didnt work.

I put in another set, greased them, then pumped up to 200 bar, FINALY!

Im confused why some o-rings worked, and the later didnt.

I suggest to anyone that uses a probe to do what was advised to me, and lubricate the oring that controls the incoming air.

Once i did this, and the grease allowed the oring to slide unhindered, it allows the air to enter the cylinder.

Have you tried twisting the probe in the fill port while airing it up?  I have found mine will leak air and not fill past a certain pressure, but after twisting the probe while it's inserted in the fill port, it seems to seal and will fill the rest of the way.  I'm not sure why it leaks  but after twisting it a ¼ turn and it stops.

I will certainly try it, i wish it just had a fill probe built in like a bottled gun.

Take out the problems with orings, sealing it, twisting it, greasing it, check valves, etc.

Live and learn huh?

Hi, went and shot about 100 pellets sighting in a red dot. Filled 3 times without any problems, other than needing oxygen for me and friend.

I have to get a tank.

  One should note when they are having air gun issues, to mention that they are totally new to it so we can try to remember all the things we stumbled with when first learning about modern and old airguns . Sometimes us old timers fergit the learning curve we went through. " uphill both ways in a blizzard " 
 
 If I recall there are some older videos done by Airgunweb and some others on a lot of the basics of PCP and also springers.
