Disabled the "auto" portion of the safety today... getting too old and forgetful (I guess) to flick the switch.
The cocking arm contacts the tab (on top of the safety) and rotates the safety CW. This is what makes it an auto-safety.
Removed the contact area... knocked it out in about 30 min...

After:
It was kind of a hack-job (had to use grinding stones). The safety cut like it was hardened stainless... nasty stuff... wants to get hot instead of cutting.
The safety works perfectly when operated manually. But the gun doesn't shoot any better

Taking the gun off of "Safe" is a natural motion for me. Cock the gun, flick my thumb, ready on the line...
Nice work though...

Agree, nice work. I usually remove auto safeties automatically.

Thanks, guys. Most of my pistols have manual safeties and I'll sometimes forget about the "auto" feature when going back and forth between the mix. You get locked-on, nice and steady, apply a gentle squeeze and... oops!... the safety is on. Though I'm probably making it into a bigger deal than what it really is...
