PCP steady advancements.

my plan was to get a scuba tank and fill station, with whatever probes I needed for the rifles I was going to purchase. After seeing this, it looks like I may just order a pump for now while I save up for a tank. The debate on the tank is either a standard 3300 psi or go hog wild and get a 4500 psi carbon one...but at $600 bucks for the 4500 one, that makes my wallet whimper. 

Thanks for the info...that definitely opens up another less obscene option for the wallet. And at 275 lbs, I doubt there's a pump out there that would give me a hard time.

I am not trying to dog the OP but how is the Chinese copying other manufactuerrs and dumping products on the market cheap a steady advancement in PCP?  Not to say getting something cheap isn't great but I wouldn't call that an advancement under this type of circumstance.  There have been a number of advancements in PCP in the last number of years which is why I looked at this thread.

Pumps are not all he mentioned. Also tuning,  ammo, and aftermarket parts. The thread just went the way of pumps also. Better pricing from anywhere opens up air guns and supporting accessories to people who would otherwise not be able to afford it. A lot of what we buy is in part or whole from manufacturers in other parts of the world. Advancement comes  not only in areas of products and quality but also pricing.

You don't need to spend $600+

At one time I worked in a hydro shop and we all knew that CF bottles had a huge safety margin far beyond the legal 15 years.

Shop Ebay for a SCBA with a year or so left on it for $60 to $80.  I actually bought three from a Canadian fire department that had been inspected within a year but only had a year to go on the 15 so in a way the bottle was 'covered' for three more years in 'peace of mind'.

The US 15 year limit is short but the same bottles are approved under European standards for YEARS longer, like 30.
You just can't fill one at a place that checks dates but you can continue to use the bottle if you fill it yourself with a pump or by a friends pump.
Just keep the moisture out of the tank, protect it from dings, do not let it get hotter than 125 F when filling or leave it in a hot vehicle filled and it will last another 5 or 6 or 8 years before you retire it.


Note that there is a DOT approved re-certification process: Digital Wave’s LEx™ life extension process, which is based primarily on Modal Acoustic Emission (MAE) testing technology but it is too expensive for us usually.

Well, advancement doesn't always have to be the latest technology, in my books being able to buy a pump for just about the price of a HILL  repair kit is a huge advancement in PCP shooting possibilities,.....also I mentioned all kinds of other advancements so you can always bring your experiances up if you like

I don't care what kind of super set up you have, top of the line compressor, mega tanks,...IMO everyone should have a pump in the house,

I have an 8 year old 3K, Hill MkII but have not used it for years, just cycle it every six months or so to keep it lubricated inside.
But I am ordering one of the 4500 PSI pumps as a backup because most of my rifles now have 300bar reservoirs.

I was all set to get me a "NOMAD"....had my monies set aside ( I definitely think the NOMAD is a fantastic option and right in line with my opening thoughts of advancements in PCPs along with those other Chinese compressors )

but, man I can get 10 pumps for the price of one NOMAD

I was very interested in the full size Air Venturi unit. Paying attention to Tofazfou vids, he just posted a real let down. It failed.


cedric has had it of almost a year now, however, working 6 days a week and long hours, it hasn't been used much . It locked up completely.


AirVenturi said that it was either the crank or piston rod. Seem they have the same issues as the little 300. buck compressors. GRRRR


Now he has to get it crated and spend over 200 buck to ship it back to Pyramyd for warranty work. OUCH!!! 


Guess I will keep on pumping with the Altros compressor.  Well over two years and it is a workhorse!  If, and only if you have a good shop compressor, the 600+ dollar for compressor and shipping really isn't bad at all considering. [size=78%]  [/size]

Michael I figure if I get the "Shoebox" I would be much better off for filling tanks, sure it's slow but very reliable and time proven, oh I forgot to say noisy too but heck I've been putting up with noises all my life, it's not like I'm going to try sleeping with the thing on.
