If it builds heat that fast under no load you may have a bad bearing. Bearing drag could build heat fast. Was there any metal shaving to be found or shinny spots?
Take a look at the seals. They could have put who knows what O-rings in it. If the seals are the wrong size that could be the problem. Also look at the voltage if it is 220 and you have 110 going to it that will build heat quick. If it is 220 and you have 110 going to it it will run at 1/2 speed.
for spare parts and i found an electrical problem thats now repaired.now since running, the crankcase has much more blow-by than my working original YH.this unit does not have a crankcase vent...but has a make-shift fitting and hose with an orfice.i removed this and installed a 1/4" hose barb with about 6" of clear hose.i have had it running without building pressure just to check it runningwith water circulating for cooling several times.it didn't take long for it to reach 54c with no load...30-45 seconds.my working YH takes 2-3min to reach 54c under load filling guns ??tomorrow i will attempt to build pressure, but what would i be looking at to fix the blow-by problem ?bought this for spare parts or maybe repair and use at hunting camp this year. thanks for any info....

John try setting up your cooling system like mine,,its a bit crude but very effective

John try setting up your cooling system like mine,,its a bit crude but very effectivei have this one cooling from a bucket also. when i get it to work as it should, i'm going to build another self contained cooling system like my original YH has.i believe that the high crankcase pressure needs attention before i go building another like this.....
I'd pull the head off and check the piston ring orientation. There should be 2 rings. I clocked mine 180* apart. If they're lined up that could cause more blow by than normal. In talking about the large piston for low side compression. Not the small brass one.
I was tempted to buy the one that Mi Yeti had posted in the classifieds but decided against it, not so sure I want to buy a Yong Heng after all the problems that I've seen people having with them.

You have to remember you get what you pay for If you do not want to baby it just add a zero to the price for a better one.
