1322/1377 dilemma,help me decide what parts to put on what gun LOL

ok,

after i stripped the breech screw on a brand new custom shop 1322 and torx bits wouldnt get it out,
i started to drill the head out for a screw extractor,
aaaaand.... the screw broke off flush with the tube (yay fun)

decided to drill the stub to see if the extractor could get it out,
the drill caught and screwed the remaining nub all the way into the tube (at least its out) and miraculously didnt harm the threads.

took the broken piece out and cleaned the inside of the tube and all seems well.


You may all now laugh and point fingers at me......   ............

anyway,on the the dilemma.


have a 1377 and a 1322 but since for the time being im left with only 1 breech screw between 2 guns,
and my flat top valve/piston and enlarged transfer port came in today,
im trying to decide what to do for now........


1.  put the ft valve/piston/transfer port in the 1377 with a 24" barrel

OR

2. put the ft valve/piston/transfer port in the 1322 with either an 18" or a 14.6 barrel.


could be lack of sleep,but im having trouble deciding.


so im asking,what would you do,and why?

plan on doing flat top setups in both guns,
but im wondering,for now,which one would benefit more from the ft piston/valve,until i get another one?


the 24" .177

or the 14.6"/18" .22

im kind of leaning towards the .177,but would like some opinions.

You could really get some speed out of it with the .177 24" barrel. You probably wouldn't need the larger transfer port for that. The 18" .22 barrel and larger transfer port would probably produce more power. The good thing is the top end is easily switched, so if you have a chrony, you can play around with barrel lengths, calibers, and transfer ports to find what setup is most efficient and which you prefer to shoot.

Just be careful with that remaining allen screw (Most of us have done that too!)

LOL ive had that particular gun apart at least 10 times changing/testing barrels,

and every time i say im going to grab the dremel and slot the screw like i did on the other one, but........you know... hahaha


i am leaning towards giving the flat top to the .177 first,

it seems to love baracudas so flattening the trajectory wouldnt be a bad thing 


but like you said,easy to switch out components to test. (AFTER slotting the screw LOL)

no chrony, so wondering what kind of numbers i could get out of it with the 24" .177 and flat tops.

It has been about 13 years since I built a setup like that. Looking through my notes, I got 710 fps with 7.9 grain pellets at 10 pumps. At 20 pumps, it averaged 820 fps with the same pellets. I was younger, dumber, and very inexperienced when I built it, so I'll bet even better numbers can be had.

In spite of that, it was a fairly accurate, lightweight setup very capable of taking small game.

the .177 barrel i have has been shooting "minute of hosp" out to about 50yds,
with pretty much every pellet ive tried through it,
seems to love the jsb 7.3 and cudas the best.

as for the .22 barrels ,my 14.6" is more accurate than the 18" but dont know what kind of numbers id get from it with the shorter barrel.
