R7 or other optoins? 25 yard and under squirrel gun.

Is there much learning curve with the R7 as far as hold sensitive?

I want a fairly light weight gun my 12 year old daughter can shoot as well.  We live in the country, and a fair amout of squirrels and bunnies in the yard for game.  I keep stepping it out and 20-25 yards seems like would be our normal shot - nothing past 25 for sure.

I'd buy a Marauder pistol carbine in a blink, but it's a little out of budget.

Really considering a lightly modded 1322 carbine with 18" barrel as well.  It's in my budget, I know it's not hold sensitive - but it might be a bit much pumping for my daughter, and I'm not sure how loud it is without a TKO.

As far as I know, no spring rifle is easier to shoot accurately than the R7/HW30. It's combination of easy cocking and well matched power to ranges under 25 yds. means the recoil and vibration at the heart of hold sensitivity is as minimal as it can be.

I have a modded 1322 pushing a 14.3gr CPHP at ~550fps with 10 pumps and it's not much more than a light pop, certainly back yard friendly.

A 2400kt from the Crosman custom shop is a good option if the pumping is a concern and CO2 is viable for you. It's a bit louder than I like without a TKO however. Mine shoots like a laser beam at 20 yards with the 14" LW .22 barrel with 13gr JSB's, and shoots Wally World CPHP's very well also.

Your 12 YO Daughter will LOVE the R7 in .177 caliber.  I don't like the .22 caliber as much, but it maybe better for squirrels (I don't hunt).

The only problem you'll have is ............. YOU won't be able to put it down .

The gun needs a very light hold and is very easy to shoot accurately.  AA 7.73 are easily the best pellets for my gun.

R7s/HW30s are great guns for new shooters. My son was nailing small pine cones at 45+ yards with no real practice prior.  My daughter loves it as well. I introduced my girlfriend, her mom, and my buddy 's girlfriend to shooting with the same gun, and they all loved it.
The gun is good on squirrels with head shots and accurate enough to make them.

The R7 is a very easy gun to shoot and it is quite accurate too.  I hunt with mine and it easily drops squirrels and rabbits at 25 yards. Grab one and enjoy.
