All systems go!
This is my first chrono but set up is very simple. It is Bluetooth only but the apps are easy and free for my S5 and laptop with Windows 10. Normally NOTHING works the first time with Windows 10 but I followed directions and to my surprise it connected just fine.
I was struggling to get a reading at first inside or on my back porch but I had read a lot about lighting issues with chonos. I ended up at Wally World and found some cheap LED work lights, with batteries installed, both with tax was $5.34.
I shot my springer, 4 strings, 5 shots each. No errors and it talks to you, tells you the fps after every shot when using the app on the laptop so there is no need to look at the display after every shot. Have not tried it with the phone yet.
The cheap lights have a magnet on them so I just bent over some plumbers tape I had and stuck them to it, done, worked every time.
BTW the lights are 150 lumens each and have 3 aaa batteries. I was skeptical but they work great.
So far so good! Very

Thanks dcmeyer,
I ended up getting this unit directly from Competition Electronic (along with some other items) with the help of Crystal B. and have used it twice so far. Like you, this is my first chrony unit also.
My unit worked good with the Android application although I turned off the voice feature . It has missed a shot or two but that may have been due to changing light conditions outside. I don't plan to use this indoors yet so extra lights are not needed right now.
One thing I was concerned about was mounting this unit on my photo tripod and the limited area this unit would sit on as it gets a little windy here at times. I ended up getting a 6" mounting plate that attached to the chrony unit and then I found the front to rear balance point and mounted the chrony at this point on my tripod. Not able to post a picture of this yet as my current lowly status prevents this but the plate I used is an RSS MPR-1 unit that I got from B&H Photo. The balance point is NOT near the 1/4 x 20 mounting hole but about 1.5 inches towards the front of the chrony. Set up like this the chrony never really moved at all during my test sessions so that was great. I could have weighted down my tripod too but it did not need to.
Was able to check my three rifles and now I know they all shoot a bit low on power (10+ish fpe vs. 12 fpe spec on R9 and LGU). I'll be doing some tuning improvements and re-checking to see if i can get them closer to spec. The nice thing is my LGU and LGV have very low std deviation (2 and 3 respectively) and minimal extreme spread ( 7 and 11 respectively) so that was gratifying to see. The R9 has a new 12 fpe Vortex kit so some tweaking and fine tuning may still be needed. Std deviation was 6, extreme spread was 22.
Need to spend a day testing my pistols but we have to get through this little hurricane that is hanging around town right now.....
