New P-ROD Accuracy Issues

  Sounds like a barrel tension issue. Keep experimenting and you should hit upon the combination that it likes.

The crosman barrels do not come out perfect every time. The barrel that came on my synrod was capable of shooting very well, but was also pellet picky, threw fliers, and needed cleaned too often. I ordered a replacement barrel (35 with shipping), and the replacement was grouping horribly, 2" at 25 yards. The crown and port seemed fine visually, what I did notice however was that when pushing a pellet through it was very loose and got way too tight just in the last inch. Rolling on a flat surface the barrel was also bent. They exchanged the replacement free of charge, and the next barrel I got was good, now I can group .25" at 25 yards using JSBs.
I'd order a new barrel, hopefully you get a good replacement the first time, but if you don't, they will exchange it for you. Your new barrel will not come with a breech o-ring, so either order a new one of those as well, or do what I did and gently pry it out of the old barrel.

Sorry, just read your newest post how it shoots well without the moderator. Make sure the air splitter o-ring is lubricated, I've heard that if this o-ring is unevenly lubed or dry it messes with the harmonics. Also try tightening the shroud to varying amounts, some people actually loosen it so it is backed off the breech by a hair, then you can try finger tightening, snug, and tight. I also wonder if a bent barrel could have harmonic issues with a shroud.

The ss valve is the biggest improvement you can make to a prod peroid. David

his new spring loaded LDC.....

I'm completely sold on the Rocker1 dual baffle design for the P-Rod, best LDC I have. Hoping he has this style for the Hammerli's when I'm done playing with the PROD. This is almost completely silent and the PROD has a pretty serious bark when cranked all the way up on the stock valve (with a .116 TP).

I think I have the secret sauce for this setup figured out. Just removing the o-ring on the barrel spacer/baffle thingy and snug the LDC down hand tight is producing excellent groups (sub .500" @ 30 yards) with a 24x scope mounted on top. I swapped that out for the Tasco 3-9 that is going to live on it, adjusted the fixed parallax for ~25 yards and took first blood this morning on a grackle at 20 yards. Went clean through with the HN FTT, not sure how much more power I really want! But I know my wife and I are both even more in love with it now that when I purchased it. These are such sweethearts now that it's shooting accurately.

I think once I have the SS valve installed and tuned properly I'll probably call this done (probably). Sub 5 pounds with a scope and dead silent 25 FPE is perfection.

do not know about Prods but my Mrods do not like it when the shroud is tight to the breech on both my Mrods they need to be a turn or so from even touching the breech...
