Well In this ever expanding vision I have for this gun, I've made a preload adjuster.
So now I'd like to put my hammer on a diet. I'm taking alot of diameter off the front section, and am going to drill out a piece of PEEK to make up some of the slack, and make a travel limiting lip built in instead of the valve end, like a reverse bstaley job.
Now what I don't know, at least not for sure, is does the front lobe of the sear do anything really? Does it prevent excessive sear engagement on the rear band of the hammer? Does it engage the hammer in any meaningful way during it's travel? Would there be any foreseeable problems if I were to take more diameter off the hammer, as long as I keep the two bands? Or perhaps I can do away with the front sear lobe altogether? I know it can be useful for partial cocking, especially after increasing preload and or decreased valve spring tension, but other than that, if I were willing to cock it to pump it.
