Here is what I want to do, if possible safely.

I have a new Shoebox F-10, 4500 psi compressor coming, should be here today or Sat, 
there is 3- 13/3000 psi air tanks that fit the QB-79, 22 cal and 2 Ham 850, 17 cal rifles,
the reg's are set to different psi for each rifle, I want to test, at 850, 1200 and 1500 psi levels.

I am hoping that there is a way to be able to fill the 13/3000 psi tanks to 2000 psi,
from the SB and OR the 4500 psi SCBA, 60 min tank, (en route to here),
as from the info I have read, so far, it is NOT a good Idea to fill the small 13/3000 tanks,
from the Shoebox, why I don't know?

I am reading all the 700+ posts to find more info, but so far, the info is sadly lacking........
from what I have found so far, read up to pg #620.

I would love to have a tethered 4500 psi SCBA tank to either one of the rifles,
but I don't know/think this option is available, as for the psi levels differences of the tank/rifles etc.

All these new air lines will be Ninja 5000 psi+ micro hose and the same psi rating for all the fittings etc.

So I ask this question,
is it possible to fill these 13/3000 tanks, from the SB and or the 4500 psi SCBA tank,
and is it possible to have a tethered line for each different rifle, when shooting from the bench?

Any and all info would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like what you want is an adjustable regulator between the SCBA tank and your guns....

The reason you have heard of problems filling a 13 CI tank from a ShoeBox is that the pulsing output from the ShoeBox flexes the burst disc and can cause premature failure of it from metal fatigue.... It is more of an issue if you drain the tank down below the setpoint, because then the pulses can get through the regulator to the output disc....

If I misunderstood, and it is your intention to tether each gun to it's tailor made 13 CI regulated tank, then you can do that and simply fill the tank directly from your SCBA....

Sorry, I guess I did not post the correct info, to make it clear.

Let's put it this,
Have 4500 psi Suriviair SCBA tank, micro line with Foster QD to a 4500 psi Ninja regulator, regulated down to 2000 psi,
then a micro line with Foster QD, down to any of the 13/3000 psi Ninja tanks, (these tanks are regulated down to 850, 1200 and 1500 psi levels),
that will be attached to whatever rifle, along with degassing valves on each micro line, where needed, I am shooting at the time.

I do not know which type of valve this is, still researching that info, and would hope there is a reducing bushing to go to the 5000 psi micro line etc..

I have a real concern about filling these small 3000 psi tanks from a 4500 psi tank, one slip and Kaboom etc.

This setup will be for shooting from a bench for testing/starling shooting, using the 4500 psi tank, as the main supply source.

Am I going about this the correct way? As I sure don't know..........

I believe that it can safely be done this way, and have all the parts on hand, except the micro lines with Foster QD's/ASA connector.

A 4500 SCBA tank > micro line/ASA connector to 4500 psi Ninja reg with a reg tester base, >in the fill port nipple, (reg'd down to 2000 psi),
out the top of reg with a micro line/Foster QD to the 13/3000 tanks fill nozzle and reg'd to the psi needed.

Using this for attachment to reg and fill nozzles,

I can't see another way (cheaply) to get the psi down from the 4500 psi SCBA tank, to use able levels for these smaller gun tanks.

Do you see any problems or flaws or a better way etc?

I fill guns and tanks all the time from a 4500 psi SCBA tank.... It's a little nerve-wracking filling a low pressure, small reservoir like a Disco or Chief, until you get the hang of what your SCBA valve "feels" like.... but filling a 13 CI tank (213 cc) or larger to 3000 psi isn't an issue because the larger tank builds pressure more slowly, giving you more time to react when it nears 3000 psi, plus the pressure difference (4500-1500 = 1500 psi max.) is less, reducing the flow rate.... I suppose some brands of SCBA valve might be pretty much "ON-OFF", but the one on my tank certainly isn't, it is very easy to modulate the flow rate.... This is mine.... You can see the "dip tube" which I cut off and tapped to install a 1/32" restrictor there.... I honestly think it does no good at all, probably need a 1/64" hole to work as a flow restrictor during filling a tank....



You also must remember that your 3000 psi 13 CI tanks have a 5K burst disc that would let go between 4500-5000 psi, even if you left the valve on the SCBA wide open.... The only damage would be (maybe) a blown disc and you might need to change your shorts, as that is pretty startling.... The Hydrotest pressure on your 3000 psi tanks is 5000 psi, and they fail that test only if the tank "yields" (expands and doesn't come back elastically to its original diameter) like they should.... Even if you made a serious slip and drastically overfilled your 13 CI tank, "Kaboom" shouldn't be the result.... I'm not suggesting you overfill a tank, of course, because every time you do that you shorten its lifespan.... but the safety margins are big enough to stand it, and the burst disc is there to protect you.... "Kaboom" should not occur below 10,000 psi....

Learn how to fill SLOWLY using the valve on your SCBA, and PAY ATTENTION to what you are doing.... and you should be fine.... IMO there is more danger of an adjustable regulator failing, or being set at the wrong pressure, than you making a serious mistake, assuming normal care on your part....

Question for you,
Can the main valves of SCBA tanks be changed to what ever Brand name your valve is?
As I know nothing about SCBA tanks/valves, at this time etc.

You mention that you altered/changed your valve's dip tube to a 1/32" restrictor, (is that the long silver tube?)

Another question,
How did you change the dip tube for restriction etc.?

The 4500 psi SCAB tank I am getting, will have the valve removed and included per USPS reg's, for shipping,
so I will be able to get hands on in in the next couple of days.

Yes, I cut off the long silver tube flush with the bottom of the valve, drilled it and tapped it for a setscrew, which I had drilled out with a 1/32" drill....

The reason for cutting off the dip tube is so that I can invert the tank and "burp" the valve to check for any liquid water in the tank.... just in case....

I assume all SCBA tanks have the same threads, and if that is the case, should accept the same valves.... You can get a "slow fill" valve from Joe Brancato.... including one that has two gauges on it (tank pressure and downstream of the valve).... The gauge on my valve is tank pressure, I added one downstream of my CGA-347 fitting and upstream of my female Foster QD.... along with a home made bleed valve....
