From bullet testing that I and others have done it looks as if the Korean rifles can do well on 5-8 bhn lead . And other rifles can do well on higher bhn lead . Roto metals states that their 1 to 30 lead or 3 percent tin is about 8 bhn . 1 pound is 7000 grains . 3 percent of that is 210 grains . So if you are trying to make your pure lead last longer or just trying to fill your mold better this might help you . Marvin

Here is a picture of some 25 caliber 12 bhn bullets that were shot at over 1000 fps . Pulled them out of the bank at the range . I like to check the engraving from time to time .
I have now accumulated about 3200 pounds of lead . That ranges from 5 bhn -18 bhn . Some of the lead I bought .But most I mined at the range . If I figure in what I have made in scrap brass and copper I have really no money invested in this lead . A lot of time and work but really no cash .
I am not telling ever one to go out and buy a hard alloy to cast bullets with . Which is more expensive than 5 bhn , or pure lead. But if you have a good source of inexpensive lead give it a try . I have no shearing , good engraving and in some cases do to the no shearing better accuracy . Marvin
