Filling a plastic stock...

I filled the stock on my Phantom with some sheet foam sound proofing stuff. Man it mad a huge difference in grouping. I am using an old scope I had laying around, probably 20 years old and 6 bucks at K mart. I have a new one on order with a one piece mount, hopefully tomorrow. It was shooting 1 1/2 or so, and it tightened up to < 3/4. I am pleased with the results.

Are the plastic stocks that flimsy that they move, if so would not a wooden stock
be even better than the filled one. Of course that would also mean a weight increase. I am not familiar with the plastic, as I am a wood worker and make
most everything out of wood. Earl

Earl it is more for dampening the noise of the AGs shooting(buzz, twang in ears from empty void),but it just might help with the vibration on shots release, or it could be the extra weight or LOL we could go on forever, it does seem counter productive to get a "plastic" stock for weight savings and then fill it up but then we all seem to do it, I even placed a couple of oz of lead shot in one of mines forearm area then embedded that with epoxy trying to "make" the stock more ridged? Terrible aren't we, but hey its weather proof right!!!

It really helped with the vibration, and the twang in your cheek. I feel it does help accuracy, and it only added maybe < 1.5 oz.

Like tupperware says above, I do it to reduce the vibration.
I've used plastic shopping bags with good results (just pack 'em in there), and even modelling clay and duct seal when a little extra weight was wanted.
