Absorbent media for HPA filter

Question for those with more HPA knowledge. I have an acquaintance who has offered me a quantity of something called sorbead, apparently a silica gel drying bead which turns from orange to clear when absorbing water. Would this work well as a drying medium to use in a Diablo filter for our type of air gun use?

Silica gel requires more dwell time in the filter than 13X molecular sieve for proper moisture adsorption. Short answer it will NOT work as well.

Desiccants of the silica gel type are most effective in a moisture trap between the first and second compression stage, to feed very dry air to the second stage compressor. The Diablo is designed for use downstream of the second stage, and the best medium to be used in that application is molecular sieve.
