Sorry.  The question was mainly for you, but I realize your question was for Seth, so it's really just an open question to anyone.
 
So let me try asking it a different way.  I think its the math nerd in me.    Big bullets get heavy real fast, meaning, if you double the diameter, generally the weight is a lot more than doubled.  SO how do you keep the bullet from getting too heavy, or as you say, make a lightweight bullet.  DO you hollow the base, or the point, or neck the middle.  Many different ways, I am just curious about suggestions, or favorite designs.  Thinking about it, its really th same question you originally asked.

I think that's what I was trying to say.
Just curious about different ideas.

     I have yet to shoot a boolit that is shorter than it is wide....closest I've come is the EPP/UG's.  Melloroadman send me some TINY .45 slugs that are only .3945 high that I am eager to get out and test.....been tough to get away lately.

     For target/small game use, I would rather use a HP than a HB if I were trying to lighten a slug of any given length just because I haven't seen as much luck with HB slugs in airguns as I have with the HP's.

          The Haley .58 is a Beast. Jack made me a great .58 Boomer Carbine, I shot it last weekend for the first time.
          Reba sent me some 286 Grain Lead Balls & some 433 Grain HP Conical with my rifle. The .58 Caliber 433 Grain is
          a huge projectile and a .45 Caliber Lead Ball will just about fit in the Hollow Point itself. The Rifle shoots great. I
          wish I had a Chrony to measure FPS , FT- LBS. But I can say at 35 yards the 286 Grain Round Ball goes half
          way into a pine 4"x4"( 2-2"x4"). The 433 Grain HP also does heavy damage to the 4"x4" post with full penetration.
          Hunting@ 50 Yards or under should be no problem. Seth gives a great description / Information on the .58 Haley.

I have shoot thousands of bullets that are shorter than they are wide . As long as the nose length is kept to minimine to maintain balance there is no problem . Marvin

Yes, your point about the bullet being shorter than it is wide is what I was thinking about.

Nice rifle, thanks for the post. I am actually waiting on my Jack Haley .58 cal rifle now. I know he is in the process of moving and renovating their new house and bigger shop. But I cant wait to get to shoot it. I bought a bunch of bullets from Mr. Hollowpoint, some balls up to the 820 grn monster...
