adjusting speed on Gamo Urban

I was tuning in( if you can call it that) the speed on my Gamo Urban and being the way I am I had to see what it would do maxed out. Well I found out if you go too far in the spring adjuster will thread all the way out of the housing to the inside. Usually no big deal as you just turn it ccw and it will screw back into the housing, which mine did for about a half round then got tight. So after contemplating what happened I figured I better tear it down and see what was going on. This is my first Gamo with this type trigger assy so I wasn't familiar with how it was set up. Turns out I cross threaded the last couple threads in the aluminum housing. After some careful thread cleaning I got it back in and working just fine. Also when I had it almost all the way in it wouldn't cock so if you are adjusting it in stop when you get to that point.
So I caution you to be mindful of adjusting the spring tension on these type guns as the threads are extremely fine and easy to cross thread being the housing is aluminum and the adjuster is steel. I'm sure it probably been posted about before but I thought I would share my experience with this.
This Urban is a really nice gun btw and I'm very happy with it. For my final adjustment I settled on 860-890-860 for 24 shots with the Crosman 14.3 Ultramags. Hopefully I will get to go to a local farm this weekend for some pest shooting and see how it performs.

Thanks for the info, and if you would please do a follow up on the Urbans performance at the farm.

Good to know information. I really like how easy it is to adjust the gun. I have used four levels - 865 fps, 750 fps, 780 fps, and now 810 fps.
